Whether you are new school or old school, "been there, done that" or a "deer in the headlights", nothing can prepare you for the week of partying in Miami known as the Winter Music Conference. For one week, Miami is invaded by anyone and everyone in the world of electronic music. Superstar djs of all styles, producers, clubbers and everyone else that makes the dance music world go round, go on a 24/7 party fest to make you think you've died and gone to clubber's heaven. Poolside shindigs, hotel jams, rooftop soirees, boat parties, exclusive lounges and bumpin superclubs will be in full effect all week to turn even the most experienced clubber into a party zombie. | San Francisco’s beloved Nufunk party “Funkonnection” is coming to WMC with an evening of live and dj music that is sure to set the dancefloor on fire. Featuring Miami’s beloved FutureCuban band the Spam All Stars playing all night in the front and some of the world’s greatest nufunk Djs in the back, this FREE event will be a welcome respite from the 4x4 electronic grind. The Spam Allstars are road warriors -- a touring band. Kraak & Smaak , the Dutch breakbeat production trio, is heralded as one of Holland’s most important dance acts. Their organic breakbeats, full of brass stabs, guitar licks and a future-retro- phat-production-sound has drawn comparisons to Mark Rae and Thievery Corporation. Performing at over 120 headlines shows in Europe last year. Ancient Astronauts are some of Berlin's most prolific nufunk remixers. Tal M Klein is celebrating the release of his first full-length LP, the nufunk treatise on all things aquarian "Plastic Starfish". Motion Potion is one of the underground's most acclaimed and beloved live djs; an eclecticist who has graced the stages of Bonnaroo, Vegoose, and this summer's massive Rothbury Festival. |

With tech funk, breaks, glitch, nufunk and latin breaks, the event will serve as an “Antidote” to all of the (godblessed) 4x4 saturation entailed in the WMC week. Headlining the evening will be the Bay Area’s legendary tech-hop hero Bassnectar, and UK breakbeat legends the Freestylers. Add to the mix some nufunk and midtempo from DC hero Fort Knox Five, Dutch duo Kraak & Smaak, Miami’s own DJ Le Spam, and SF Funk freak Motion Potion and it adds up to a lineup unique for WMC and unforgettable for the lucky few who get tickets. or the last decade, Lorin Ashton has helped develop the North American underground dance music scene. From touring full time as a DJ (an average of 125 shows per year), to his production & remixing under the alias Bassnectar, he has amassed a dedicated fan base, crossing over from hip hop to electronica to breakbeat to ragga/dub to the jam band scene and the greater Burningman Scene. In 2007, Bassnectar was voted the #1 DJ in the Bay Area in the prestigious “Nitevibe Dreamteam” poll ( www.nitevibe.com).
