In two days we're off to Miami where our
team, composed of professional party detectives
will begin our journey into the great heat of WMC.
To check out the full list of events go to
Masterlist.
We'll come back with a plethora of incriminating
photographs and insider stories. Due to this time-consuming
mission, the next Nitevibe edition will not be out
until Tuesday March 16th but don't worry, it will
be worth the wait. You can help our reporters come
back with some great news by voting all SF in the
2004 Dancstar USA Awards. It's one of the the only
awards show where the public gets to vote so remember
to support our local SF playas like Mark Farina,
Kaskade, Behrouz, Spundae, Ruby Skye and XLR8R magazine
who are all nominated this year. Congratulations!

American Film & Sound Festival
This year's Asian American Film Festival has something
for everyone. There are documentaries, retrospectives,
new cinema, and shorts. With over 121 films, there's
bound to be at least a few films on the schedule
that pique your interest. For a special treat, check
out the retrospective of Anna May Wong: a thirties
film star who shined in leading roles, but more
often was relegated to minor roles because of her
exotic looks and speculations about her sexuality.
The festival will show four of her films, including
Shanghai Express. The other events to be
on the lookout for are the Directions in Sound
showcases featuring new Asian American musicians
and video artists ranging from Cambodian rock to
hip-hop and more.. There will be two Directions

The
Vowel Movement
Beatboxing, the more obscure element of hip-hop,
has exploded out of the underground and will land
this Tuesday at Studio Z. If you have no idea what
beatboxing is, or have shrugged it off as obscure,
it's time to get educated and entertained by an
artform known outside of stairwells, rooftops, alleyways,
and select forums, only and mistakenly, as new.
The
Vowel Movement, a production crew classifiable
only as beatbox-born, will introduce you to a form
of vocal percussion and verbal code different from
all you've seen, no matter how well you profess
your awareness of the hip-hop movement. This event,
hosted by Tim
Barsky, Kid
Beyond, and Process, will open your mind, if
not blow it. Date Tues., 3/2 Time
8pm -10:30 Place: Studio
Z, 1515 Folsom @ 11th St. Cover
