Event: Smoked Out Soul
Venue: Monarch
DJs: DJ Lazyboy, Zebuel, Will Magid
Music: turntablism, hip-hop, funk, soul, reggae, bass
Cover: $5-10
Smoked Out Soul brings out the North Bay's own DJ Lazyboy to the catacombs of Monarch. Don't let the name fool you, as Greg Sherrell, aka DJ Lazyboy, is anything but. Growing up in a household full of music, his first foray into music was learning the violin. That segued into playing the guitar and percussion, and then finally into DJing. Falling in love with turntablism, DJ Lazyboy is learning from the best, with DJ Shortkut serving as his mentor. He recently showcased his beat juggling talent on the 1s and 2s while playing the illustrious Boiler Room, making him one to watch. Don't miss DJ Lazyboy, along with Zebuel and Will Magid, throwing down some bass heavy beats for Smoked Out Soul. (CQ)

Event: Amtrac
Venue: Halcyon
DJs: Amtrac, Durante, Funky Teknomics
Music: house, funk
Cover: $15-20 presale
Amtrac, real name Caleb Cornett, has been pushing his creative limits as a producer, DJ, musician and sometimes-vocalist since 2008. The multi-talented artist can electrify an audience, be it with a moving live music performance or by working dancefloors up to a sweat with his driving yet funk-filled DJ sets – it's his mantra to be as diverse a DJ as possible, to connect with the crowd and to keep them moving at all costs. But as impressive as his original works may be, one can't discuss Cornett's body of work without mentioning what may well be the calling card of his career: the remix. An Amtrac remix has become a coveted commodity in today's music business – from Majors like Interscope, Warner Bros, Def Jam & Sony to tastemaker labels like Fools Gold, Kitsune, Defected, and Ministry of Sound, as well as a host of popular artists including Ellie Goulding, Fred Falke, Elliphant, Two Door Cinema Club, and Kaskade have all requested the Amtrac treatment, and each time he's delivered.

Event: Modular w/ Oliver Schories
Venue: Audio
DJs: Oliver Schories, Pedro Arbulu, Charlemagne
Music: techno, tech-house
Cover: $15-18 presale
In times where electronic music often tends to sound static and soulless, Oliver Schories is one of the few producers able to translate emotional intensity into pads and patterns. Stunning from beginning till end. Among the latest wave of promising producers with a penchant for deep and emotive techno is Hamburg-based Oliver Schories. What started as 2012s one-to-watch artists and a new favorite for clubbers who like their techno grooves organic and melodic, with thick fuzzy synthesizers, reverb fx, powerful drum patterns and lots and lots of emotion emerged to one of the most booked DJs and Live-Acts of Germany.

Event: Space Cowboys To The Rescue
Venue: Monarch
DJs: Rescue, Layi Master Black, Marky Ray, DJ Seven, Brad Robinson, Deckard, Workerbee
Music: house
Cover: $15 b4 10:30, $20 after

We have assembled an evening of chunkiest, grittiest, funkiest, and most downright obscene 4 on the floor house music with special guest house DJ legend Rescue, all the way from Bangkok. Rescue's signature blend of funk and soul combined with heavy dancefloor-driven beats has been consistently pushing the envelope within the house community, and the world has taken notice. With over 50 hit releases on some of the industry's top labels such as Lingo, Tango, Beatdown, Guesthouse, Flapjack and many more, his beats have proven to be a highly sought-after and deadly dance floor combination. As a DJ, his signature sets showcase a highly technical prowess, with smooth 3-deck layering and top-notch music programming that truly brings a special vibe to the dance floor.

Event: Triple Threat DJs Reunion
Venue: The Great Northern
DJs: Apollo, Shortkut, Vinroc
Music: hip-hop, turntablism, scratching
Cover: no cover b4 11pm w/RSVP, $tba
If you're a fan of hip-hop, beat juggling and turntablism, then you are well aware of who the Triple Threat DJs are. Apollo, Shortkut and Vinroc are turntablists and so much more. As the name of their debut album, Many Styles, these guys embraced versatility. Not wanting to be pigeon holed into one genre, one style, or as club DJs or turntablists, they wanted to be known for many styles, mastering ALL elements that encompasses a hip-hop DJ. From battling, scratching, beat juggling and rocking the dancefloors, Apollo, Shortkut and Vinroc do it all, and then some. So if you are a fan of hip-hop, you know where to be this Friday. And if these guys aren't enough to bring you out, there IS an open bar for the first hour. (CQ)

Event: Brixel Boys & Treasure Fingers
Venue: Audio
DJs: Brixel Boys, Treasure Fingers, Vitamindevo
Music: house, disco, dnb
Cover: $10 presale
The underdog mentality that has kept a chip on Bixel Boys' shoulder might soon be a thing of the past. After playing an array of what can be loosely defined as 'dance' tunes at mega festivals and headlining some of the worlds best clubs, Bixel Boys are retiring this Summer and Audio is proud to present their final SF show on July 8th. They are bringing along special guest, Treasure Fingers, to send them off proper! Treasure Fingers, the DJ and producer born Ashley Jones has been making it rain in the disco with innovative remixes and original tracks. Jones is far from a new jack, having racked up over a decade of international club experience and studio chops as part of the legendary drum & bass group, Evol Intent. Yet as Treasure Fingers, he's found a way to merge his diverse influences and deep history into a signature sound, packed with intricate basslines, chopped-up, gritty synth melodies, and party-ready drum breaks.

Event: Dusk to Dawn feat. Octave One Live
Venue: Halcyon
DJs: Octave One (live), Matt Hubert, Louiv b2b Javier Fabian
Music: Detroit techno
Cover: $15-20
In the game since 1989, Octave One is a Detroit techno duo who have left an indelible mark on the sound of their home city and the world beyond. Laurence and Lenny are actually brothers, and just two of five who make dance music (chalk it up to Detroit upbringing?). With a reputation for being purists of the Detroit sound, all while creating broad sets in their live and DJ times in the booth, often leaning towards a more melodic side of the Motor City Sound. The brothers are producers above all else and thus tonight's live set is a special treat, where the duo get to really show what they're made of and what makes them Octave One. Opening and closing sets by locals like Matt Hubert, Louiv and Javier Fabian. (ML)

Event: IDP 015
Venue: Hyde Street Studios
DJs: Carson Day, Entropy Worship, Und Leise (live), Zoz, IDP residents
Music: IDM
Cover: $10
IDP, or intelligent dance party, has taken over San Francisco as the imminent IDM party of the city. Although many of the city's abstract-leaning collectives (think Surface Tension and Sure Thing) focus on the more ambient, industrial, and hardware heavy electronic sounds, none focus so clearly on the cerebral sound that comes from heavy machine-nerdery. And nerdery surely ain't bad anymore. As usual, the event features members of a close-knit, sound oriented community like Carson Day, Entropy Worship, and Und Leise, all of whom will be gracing the historic Hyde Street Studios with their live sets. Don't forget DJ sets from your fave local soundsters like Werd's Zoz and the IDP residents. (ML)

Event: Lights Down Low w/ Scuba
Venue: Monarch
DJs: Scuba, Russel E.L. Butler, Black Jeans, Richie Panic
Music: UK techno, future garage, IDM
Cover: $16-20
Scuba is the imminent leader of the game-changing label Hotflush Recordings out of the UK. The label has produced left-leaning dubstep and garage that shares bloodlines with techno and house as well as that kinda silly, come-and-go 2006 genre. Aside from producing now-legendary acts like Mount Kimbie, Joy Orbison, and Sepelcure, he has also been creating some genre-bending works of his own. While Scuba's production leans heavily on an industrially-rich techno sound, you can hear the influence of a more classic garage sound in his instrumentation that combine for what one could not describe as anything other than completely bangin'. His work could often be attributed to an IDM genre, which we're sure will please many of the dark colors-wearing folk around town. Now adding an additional focus on house and techno music with his new label Who Whom, Scuba, neé Paul Rose, will certainly surprise audiences at Monarch tonight. (ML)

Event: Salted
Venue: The Great Northern
DJs: Mr. V, DJ Mes, Miguel Migs, Julius Papp
Music: house, electro
Cover: $15
Salted is back at The Great Northern, with special guests Mr. V and DJ Mes on the 1s and 2s. If you've have the pleasure of seeing Mr. V, producer, DJ, remixer and vocalist, rock a dancefloor, you know his sets are full of heart and soul. His original productions and remixers take you back in time telling the history of music through his track selection. This also marks the Salted debut of DJ Mes, an Oakland resident and creator of the house label Guesthouse Music. He received the top spot on the Traxsource list of 100 best house track of 2011, so of course he knows a thing or two about house beats. Joining these guys are residents Miguel Migs and Julius Papp, each holding it down and adding to the soundtrack of the night. (CQ)
