Enchanted Forest
The Enchanted Forest Gathering is in its 7th year and will be enjoying its biggest celebration to date. Taking place on a new weekend this year, the gathering will be held under the full moon and will feature a robust lineup of electronic music acts from the Northern California community in which the event is held as well as visitors from the upper echelons of sonic enjoyment. Arguably the year's biggest highlight will be the single California performance of the year with Tipper, a leader in the global bass scene out of England. He'll be headlining the mainstage on Saturday night. This stage also boasts performances from other patriarchs and matriarchs of this whompy sound like LA-based Tokimonsta, Oakland-native and psychedelic tribal leader The Polish Ambassador. Other features include a more organic (read: band) stage featuring jam band The Floozies, Grateful Dead cover band The China Cats, and funk celebs Pimps of Joytime. Local favorites of the bass community will also be represented this weekend, with Friday night sets from VNDMG and friend Bogl. Did we mention there's a lazy river and a daylong river stage featuring chillout sets from the likes of aptly-named artists like Irie Rockers and Seed In Soil. And we've only covered the music. Of course there is yoga and workshops and even an onsite cannabis dispensary! Obviously there will also be a riotous sense of community, love, inclusion, connection, one love, balance, conscious celebration, and all the light that shines on your truest self. Get ready for an epic weekend (ok, and bring layers) as you head up to one of the gems of the Northern California festival schedule. Date: June 9-11, Time: gates open 9am on June 9, Place: Laytonville, CA - Black Oak Ranch, Cover: $250 and up, More Info (ML)

Event: Housepitality
Venue: F8
DJs: Marc Schneider, Max Gardner, Ivan Ruiz, Rob G
Music: downbeat, house, techno
Cover: no cover b4 10pm w/RSVP, $5 presale on RA, $10 otherwise

There are DJs who just play tunes, and then there are those DJs who change the face of music, and in turn, your life. Berlin's Marc Schneider is the latter. He's discovered obscure tunes that he's played for the masses. He's reignited love into lost art and choons, and even started new trends, all because of his love of music. Which he's sharing with your this Wednesday in the housepit. Joining him in the main room is Max Gardner, a producer, DJ and cofounder of the Direct to Earth (DTE) crew which debuted in 2011 with banging techno events. His dark, hypnotic sound keeps dancefloors packed. Ivan Ruiz and Rob G hold it down in the back room, so stop by Housepitality at F8. (CQ)

Event: Mixmag Lab ft. Honey Soundsystem
Venue: The Stud
DJs: Jason Kendig & Jackie House, Laurine, Jimmy B
Music: techno, tech-house
Cover: $10
This is, like, a huge deal for pretty much everyone that cares about San Francisco electronic music on a variety of levels. First of all, it's a Mixmag Lab recording session (kinda like Boiler Room, for the uninitiated) that will highlight the creme de la creme SF crew Honey Soundsystem and two of their key residents: Jason Kendig and Jackie House. That makes this not just a party but an actual live taping of an event that will be streamed worldwide and will bring our unique San Francisco dance culture to the world. Secondly, it will be an opportunity to enjoy a bangin' Thursday night with first-timer visitor from, where else, Berlin, Laurine of Slowlife, to DJ into the night. Third, the night opens up with beloved local and party starter, headliner, finisher, maker, etc… Jimmy B. Oh, and where is this you might ask? Well, it will be at The Stud, an epic environment what with its decades-long history of drag and tea parties and subculture — not to mention its current status as an example for a potential co-op model of building and business ownership. Did we mention there's free vodka from 6-10pm. Run, don't walk. Or better yet, dance, don't sway, to this event. (ML)

Event: Sunset Sound System Get Down
Venue: Monarch
DJs: Prins Thomas, Lovefingers, Galen
Music: house, electro
Cover: $10-20
Sunset Sound System is back with the Get Down at Monarch this Thursday. I know what you're thinking, a Sunset party that's not on a Sunday? Now that the confusion has subsided, yes this is a Sunset party on a Thursday, but it'll be held in the all-too-familiar catacombs of Monarch. Do exactly as the party name suggests and Get Down all night long in the cave. Prins Thomas takes you on a psychedelic journey with his space-disco style, which is a sound he's cultivated in his native Norway. Expect his debut to be out-of-this-world. LA based DJ and producer Lovefingers takes a break from managing the ESP Institute label and from being part of the duo The Stallions to rock the decks at Monarch. And of course, no Sunset party would be complete without Galen throwing down, so get your booty to Monarch and Get Down. (CQ)

If you've been reading this newsletter for anything longer than a month and anything up to 13 years (yes, we're both that old), then you've heard about the Salted parties, the dance night accompaniment to Migs' soul-tinged, SF-based house record label. Migs himself has been a long-term proponent of the SF scene and has kept it going through ups and downs and in rent prices, iPhone upgrades, and watering hole closures. While he allows this tradition to continue through today, he also invites Jay-J to headline this Saturday, this time at Monarch. Jay-J is another local keeping it real with his label Shifted Music which, much like Salted, focuses on the West Coast house sound. Jay-J, along with running Shifted, has recorded with some of the top labels in the Bay including OM Records, Ultra, and Defected. Oh, and he's got a couple Grammy's. Join him, Migs, and Salted residents for the continued taste of the West Coast sound. (ML)

Soul Slam is an event centered around a musical battle between two dearly departed legends, Prince and Michael Jackson. It's hard to put Prince up against the King of Pop, as it's almost like comparing apples to oranges, but that's what Soul Slam does. In it's 12th installment, DJ Spinna is your headliner, throwing down the greatest in covers, compilations and albums of these heavy hitters. Spinna is no slouch himself, known in the music world as a top-knotch producer and the man who gave us the single, Tribute to Dilla. And did I mention that he's helped newer generations find love in the wonder that is Stevie Wonder? Basically, he knows his ish when it comes to music and especially to DJing and producing. Also adding support are King Most, HeyLOVE*, Wonway and Nina Sol, each throwing down music that comes straight from their souls. (CQ)
