Also adding to the soundtrack of the day are DJs Mr. V, Patrick Wilson, Jayvi Velasco, Andrew Phelan, Roman Nunes and Eric Groove, each adding some funky beats perfect for daytime fun. M.A.N.I.F.E.S.T Art&Music Festival
This Saturday, the Bay Area is in for a treat. The art and music festival known as M.A.N.I.F.E.S.T is taking over the historic 16th Street Train Station in Oakland, a fundraising benefit for grassroots causes that brings communities together from all walks of life. This art and music mashup benefit focuses on shared experiences, a time when art and music can make a difference and help others connect together. I don't know about you, but this is exactly what I want to hear when it comes to festivals I attend. And speaking of listening, the lineup for this is insane, with various acts throwing down on multiple stages. Scratch master and mashup pioneer Z-Trip holds it down on the Manifest Stage, showcasing his versatility in both music selection and style of playing. He comes from a hip-hop background, but don't get it twisted, as he plays (and loves!) all genres. Taking over the Blue Bear Stage is Fishbone's Angelo Moore local funk phenomenon, The Brand New Step, while the Sunset Soundsystem DJs hold it down on the Sun Stage. There'll even be an interactive music area for kids where they can get their learn on about all things musical. But don't worry, there is no age limit so if you feel like learning a bit too, by all means join in! Feeling a bit stiff? Get into some downward dog or child's pose with yoga instructor Jessica Annand. There's even a Silent Disco and some live painting going on, making M.A.N.I.F.E.S.T Art&Music the place with a little something for everyone. Date: Sat May 27, Time: noon-10pm, Place: 16th Street Station 1601 Wood ST, Oakland, Cover: $20+, More Info (CQ)

His obsession grew to include music from every corner of the world and, in 2001, Sole moved to LA. With a broad musical palette, he felt right at home in the spiciest melting pot in the country. Trumpeter/Producer Will Magid's newest project "Balkan Bump" laces live electronic music with highly energetic Balkan Brass and drums. Event: Club Lonely
Venue: OMG
DJs: DJ Primo, Jeremy Castillo
Music: house
Cover: $5
We will continue to more or less leave this right here. This underrated, undercharging, but never underwhelming night comes about once every month or so — just random enough to keep you on your toes and change your plans where you see that announcement. Tonight's event features regular DJs and night runners DJ Primo (famous for his work in, like, so many events in the city although including 2 Men Will Move You, Oldies Night, Soul Night, and generally the hoppin' Tuesdays at Make-Out Room) and CL regular Jeremy Castillo. It's a space focused on being safe so you know what to do. The answer is to dance without fear. (ML)

Event: Don't Try This At Home w/ Mind Against
Venue: The Great Northern
DJs: Mind Against, Matt Hubert, Pedro Arbulu, Patón, Prehistoric Reptiles
Music: house, techno, tech-house
Cover: $15-20 presale
Etching a musical partnership that draws from the combined roots of IDM,house and techno, Mind Against are the Italian native but Berlin based project of Alessandro and Federico Fognini. They carved a path for themselves with a series of three EP's on Life and Death. Their debut Atlant, the follow up Avalon and the latter Strange Days were let loose to critical acclaim. Since then calling the label their home, the duo now takes part in the management and A&R. 2015 came with a celebratory occasion marked by a collaborative EP with Belgian producer Locked Groove, released on Hotflush Recordings. The duo released in July their new single Vertere on Life and Death, where they joined forces with Italian techno artist and friend Somne. The biggest cliché of a "sound that's hard to pin down", is realer than gravity when it comes toMind Against. They coax on psychedelic hooks of the 1980s and dance floor anthems bound traditionally to European soil. This backdrop makes for releases and performances that do well against any canvas.

Event: Teenage Mutants
Venue: Halcyon
DJs: Teenage Mutants, Nilo & Laur
Music: techno, deep house
Cover: $10-20
With the Teenage Mutants, the DJ/producer one-man-show based in Mainz/Germany, who originally started as a duo two years ago, there is no radioactive turtles, rarely any pizza, and certainly no New York storm sewers involved. Yet the name giving Turtle Bros have one thing in common: namely the underground - the underground techno, deep house and indie dance scene in particular, where it all began. Colossal bass lines and propelling beats made the Teenage Mutants jump directly from Rhineland-Palatinate to enter the dance music chart institution Beatport.

Event: We Are Monsters w/ Lena Willikens
Venue: Monarch
DJs: Lena Willikens, Solar, Mozhgan
Music: house, disco, techno
Cover: $10-15 presale
As a DJ, radio broadcaster, producer, and Theremin player, Lena is never committed to one style, all is welcome as long as it is twisted the in a one-of-a-kind way. She also produced the very special ghost wave track, "High Holes" for the vinyl only sampler "Kingii", released by the Düsseldorf based label Slowboy Records. Her latest release is a contribution to the "Noise of Cologne 2" sampler. Here she delivers, together with Melanie Wratil (Institut Fuer Feinmotorik) under the alias Titanoboa, some heavy hitting industrial emotions. When she spins records she likes to let herself go in the name of dance and free thought. May it be obscure proto-techno, jacking spirits, industrial boogie, synthesized disco, raw house, or other outernational rhythms

Event: Dials pres. Pantha du Prince (live)
Venue: The Great Northern
DJs: Pantha du Prince, MossMoss, dAviA
Music: minimal dance, electronica, techno, chillwave
Cover: $20 and up
Pantha du Prince belongs in the recent canon of artists like Nicolas Jaar and Max Cooper — artists that draw strongly from dancefloor electronica while focusing on home listening (without getting quite as wonky as Autechre). The work of the German artist is melodic and magical, while still rippling and synth heavy, with subtle electronica acting as an essential to each individual song instead of a light aside. It is a corner of the current electronic music scene and one that could be said to be one of its most beautiful. He'll be performing live as a special treat tonight, his first live show in the Bay Area in four years. He'll be joined by local sound explorer MossMoss. (ML)

Event: Metro Area (DJ Set)
Venue: Monarch
DJs: Metro Area (DJ Set), J Raz, Dizkoalition
Music: r&b, disco, tech-house
Cover: $10-20 presale
After over a year of late-night sessions in New Jersey and Manhattan, Metro Area burst onto the scene in 1999 with their self-titled debut 12" featuring the cult smash "Atmosphrique." The brainchild of veteran producers Morgan Geist and Darshan Jesrani, Metro Area was born out of the duo's dichotomous love of both the old moods of R&B, disco and boogie and the more cutting-edge sound of innovative house and techno. Metro Area brings back the soulful experimentation of early club classics, mixing live and electronic instruments. Simultaneously, the mood and minimalism of more recent dance music forms creep into the mix: Detroit's icey futurism, Chicago's abstract track-modes and the warmth of New York and New Jersey's deep house.

Music: techno, tech-house
Cover: $10 and up
Honey is at it again with their Sunday parties. While typically Sunday has been saved for church-style raving and tea parties, Honey resuscitates the tradition in SF although we generally save for things like three-day weekends and we don't mind that at all. Honey is your favorite queer party whose specially placed parties keep each individual night one for the books and ones worth not leaving town for. Honey is in with some of the most talented in local artists, including but limited to their own techno-spinning residents like Jackie House and Jason Kendig, now of international fame. Its hedonistic, its Sunday, its Honey. (ML)
