Event: Doctor Dru (Jeudi)
Venue: Halcyon
DJs: Doctor Dru, Seven, Aladino Maa
Music: house
Cover: no cover b4 11pm w/RSVP, $10 otherwise
This Thursday, at Halcyon, the doctor is in. Doctor Dru, that is, a drummer turned DJ who has a deep love and appreciation for that four-on-the-floor sound. Also spending some time as a ghost-producer and writer for acts like Bootsy Collins, Doctor Dru's main love remained house music. House was in his soul and because of that, in 2010, he began the label Jeudi Records and after years of producing other people's music, he began making some of his own. Rounding out the lineup are DJs Seven and Aladino Maa, who'll be performing a birthday DJ set, so be sure to wish them a happy one. (CQ)

Event: Joe Goddard (Hot Chip) Live
Venue: Public Works
DJs: Joe Goddard (Hot Chip), Live, Jackie House
Music: house
Cover: $15 presale
Hot Chip's, Joe Goddard, is making way to SF with a new live performance in celebration of his soon to be released album, Electric Lines. The album title refers to the colored cables to which his Eurorack synthesizer is connected, as well as to the invisible wires between all the different forms of electronic music that Goddard loves. In addition, it is a very appropriate title for an album that blends brilliantly the strands of his extraordinarily fertile career: member of Hot Chip and the 2 bears, songwriter, producer, DJ, Grammy nominated remixer and co-founder of the label Greco-Roman. Like Four Tet, Caribou and Jamie XX, Joe Goddard combines an unbridled desire to experiment with an instinctive flair for the dancefloor and a love for progressive left-leaning pop music. 'Electric Lines' underpins its place at the forefront of British producers. "I feel that this is a good summary of everything I've worked on," says Goddard.

Taches has been producing his signature sound for numerous years now, and throughout that time has gained quite the illustrious online following. Cover: $10-20 presale
Straight outta "Hamburg house city", Adana Twins helped secure their home's reputation for deep grooves with a series of early EPs that have made them among the most buzz-worthy acts to emerge from the German media capital. Placing repeatedly in the pole position on both Resident Advisor and Beatport charts, the duo comprised of Take It Easy and Friso has found its way into the record bags and Traktor set-ups of the world's top DJs, while comfortably establishing its own sound where sleek beats and clever sampling are only a small piece of a bigger musical vision that began to form during a previous era. The whirlwind of 2017 has already seen great dynamism for Adana Twins, establishing their new "home base" at Watergate Records, birthed from the Berlin-staple Watergate Club and famous for its characteristic Mix Series with residents and guests from the likes of Soul Clap, Ellen Allien and Pan-Pot.

Art Department almost invented the style of modern deep house that has become so popular everywhere from places like Winter Music Conference to PanoramaBar to their residency at Ibiza's CircoLoco. Since their hit 2011 album The Drawing Board, techno stalwart Kenny Glasgow and party boy and music heir Jonny White have been crushing Mixmag lists, Beatport charts, and so much more. Their influence has yet to cease and neither has their draw among those who enjoy the melodic sides from the leaders of the current deep house movement. Joining them will be No. 19 label-mate Nathan Barato and an upstairs takeover from local crew Disco Katz. (ML)

Event: Lights Down Low ft. Simian Mobile Disco
Venue: The Great Northern
DJs: Simian Mobile Disco, Veronica Vasicka, Corey Sizemore b2b Richie Panie, BROUHAHA takeover
Music: tech-house, nu disco, nu rave
Cover: $20 presale
Simian Mobile Disco have had a storied career. While originally considered contemporaries of now-forgotten bands like The Rapture. These inadvertent champions of the mid aughts alt-dance movement, alongside groups like Cut Copy and Passion Pit, met over 20 years ago and now continue to play sets at the likes of Berghain and Fabric, despite their roots in indie rock and indie dance (although their Lou Reed inspirations were mixed with a hearty dose of Autechre. Their transition to indie dance alongside the rising ranks of Justice filled the later 00's although they still made time for analog techno on their label Delicacies. They've since dabbled in afterparty music, krautrock desert sessions, and so much more. Tonight is an opportunity to assess where the duo have landed in the 2017 climate. With LDL locals like Corey Sizemore and Richie Panic on deck — not to mention a BROUHAHA takeover — this is a surefire bet. (ML)

Event: Pete Tong
Venue: Public Works
DJs: Pete Tong, Acid Mondays, Chuwee
Music: acid house, house
Cover: $22 presale
It's fair to say that Pete Tong's history is intertwined with the history of acid house and electronic music itself. His career mirrors the story of dance music over the last 25 years. A true renaissance man, Pete has never been about one thing. Add to all this his constant touring, an ibizian residency, production work, remixes, music supervision, film scoring, and a weekly Radio 1 show, and he's without question the busiest man in dance. Formed somewhere in the 5th dimension, Acid Mondays is the cosmic coalition of fellow psychonauts Negghead and Lex Wolf. Brought together by their love for fat beats, inter dimensional travel & cups of tea; they are on a never-ending journey exploring inner and outer space. Expect altered states of hallucinogenic house and reality bending techno. It would be a cliché to say they have a great future, but they've been there and beyond and have returned to the NOW to do it all again.

Event: Salted
Venue: The Great Northern
DJs: Danny Krivit, David Harness, Julius Papp
Music: house, soul, disco
Cover: $15-20
If you know what you like and what you like is old school soul, house, and disco, then you probably already know that you like Salted parties. One of San Francisco's most beloved dance music traditions, it is the brainchild of selector and producer Miguel Migs who believes in the power of soul-infused house music. Blink and you'll miss it and Salted is a regular party that includes regulars like David Harness (now a celebrity in his own right) and Julius Papp, both of whom will be performing tonight. Tonight's headliner comes from NYC, a spiritual sister city to the sound encouraged by the Salted parties. Danny Krivit is one of those old school DJs that has been spinning vinyl since way before the invent of the CDj and long before electronic records were something you could buy on Beatport. The influence this left on the native New Yorker's sound is one that is indebted to the likes of James Brown just as much as Larry Levan. See which of his 80,000 records he'll choose to play tonight. (ML)

Event: Teebs
Venue: The Midway
DJs: Teebs, Free The Robots, LeFtO, Mophono
Music: hip-hop, jazz, house
Cover: $20 presale
Hypnotic. Warm. Organic. Tumbling. Pastoral. Ramshackle. Blissful. Expansive. These are just some of the words that have been used to describe the work of Mtendere Mandowa, better known as Teebs. A producer, a painter, and a key member of Brainfeeder clan, recent years have seen Teebs surge toward the top of the so-called "beat scene", and though his affiliation with Flying Lotus certainly has something to do with his ascent, it's ultimately the music – a billowing brand of beautifully off-kilter, hip-hop-colored beat construction – that has set Mandowa apart from what has become an increasingly crowded field of like-mind producers. Chris Alfaro is Free the Robots. The genre-defying artist pulls together heavy doses of traditional jazz, psych, electronic and hip-hop, with progressive melodies and devastating drums into a rich pot of sound. His techniques create harmony between genres with the blending of obscure samples with analog and digital compositions.

Today, it is these two factors coupled with his never ending hunt for new technology, that Matthew uses to ensure his music stands out among his peers. His positive energy radiates and runs through his flawless sets!
