Chinese New Year
Every year like clockwork, the Chinese New Year celebrations occur in Chinatown, in local public schools, in private homes, and yes, naturally, at 1015 Folsom. The annual party is an all-out rager that uses up every single room in 1015's massive space. With that kind of reach, it's no surprise that the lineup ranges from top-tier international touring acts as well as beloved locals - all spinning their hearts out. Special visitors include UK's Kode9, founder of the Hyperdub label and a leader in the bass/breaks scene with a noted DnB influence. Also joining will be The Librarian, AKA the BassCoast founder, as well as Addison Groove and a live performance by Dimond Saints. But let's not forget our beloved local scene. With tons of artists from Raindance like Smasheltooth and Rob Monroy, as well as representation from Soundpieces from the likes of Bogl, not to mention so many more, this big blowout is a great way to celebrate the Year of the Rooster. Date: Fri, Jan 27, Time: 9pm - 6am, Place: 1015 Folsom, Cover: $30+ presale, More Info (ML)

While Igaz is no longer with us, and Nackt tragically cannot play this event that so many of his friends were so excited for, his friends and collaborators are picking up the slack so as to celebrate his big EP release. Heading up the night's events will be Honey's Jason Kendig, who collaborated with Igaz on the EP's lead track, Night System. Also joining will be the Nite Owl Diner leaders Chrissy and CM-4 who are coming out from Chicago for this special night of celebration. Round this out with local favorite Woo and you know that this night, instead of being another memorial, is actually a celebration of the glorious life that was. Migs emerged from the 90's deep house underground scene to become the kind of artist who transcends the stylistic limitations of a genre so very few can. Although Migs always loved and listened to all different styles of music, in the early 90's he connected to the soulful sounds of Deep House. By the mid '90s he began experimenting with producing electronic dance music. And by the time the new millennium dawned, a string of releases and remixes on numerous leading indie dance labels earned him an enviable reputation among discerning dance music fans worldwide.
