All Day I Dream
Although All Day I Dream began in New York City, it seems more at home here in SF, where the summer feels perennial, the ocean is always near, and the trees reach the sky both inside the city and without. So this Sunday, as All Day I Dream heads to Golden Gate Park for the first time, it seems like a match made in the clouds. It makes sense not only for this event, but for San Francisco in general, as the parties taking place in the park become a Y2k version of the legendary SF Be-Ins, although this time Jerry Garcia is being replaced by Lee Burridge and Jefferson Airplane by Hoj. Their melodic, emotional house and techno will be the perfect way to uplift your spirits as we head into the summer months. Bring a picnic and a blanket and get ready to dance as the sun sets over the trees. Date: May 22, Time: 1pm-7pm, Place: Hellman Hollow Meadow - Golden Gate Park, Cover: $40, More Info (ML)

Event: Housepitality
Venue: F8
DJs: Marc Schneider, Sepehr, Joel Conway
Music: house, techno
Cover: no cover b4 10pm w/ RSVP, after $10

Housepitality is the place to be to break up the monotony of your work week. And with such quality talent gracing the decks each week, it's no surprise that the dancefloor is always packed. This week's installment features Marc Schneider, a DJ and producer from Hamburg, Germany who knows a thing or two about house and techno. Schneider first discovered electronic music when hip-hop heavy hitters like Public Enemy, Schooly D and the like were ruling the airwaves. After visiting areas full of house music history, Schneider became hooked, playing his own house sounds that showcased his mixing skills. Soon, Schneider is playing events across the globe, which eventually leads to running his own Story Imprint. For the last few decades, he's worked at distributors Container and Word and Sound. The rest, as they say, is history. Sephehr and Joel Conway round out the lineup, each making Housepitality the perfect place to get over those hump day blues. (CQ)

Event: Mushroom Jazz Monthly
Venue: Monarch
DJs: Mark Farina, M.O.M DJs (Gordo Cabeza and Timoteo Gigante), Nowtime Sound System (Joe-L and Seelo)
Music: house, jazz, Motown, soul
Cover: $10-15

For anyone familiar with Mark Farina, then you know you had a very successful album series dubbed Mushroom Jazz. Named after his signature blend of downtempo, Chicago house and smooth jazz, Farina has captivated audiences both on and off the dancefloor. Originally from Chicago, Farina eventually relocated to SF, where music lovers embraced his West coast jazz laced with East coast hip-hop and urban flair. Because of that, Farina launched his weekly Mushroom Jazz club night, hosting its first night 25 years ago right here in SF. It seems only fitting that he's doing this event again, this time hosting a monthly every 3rd Wednesday. And it's only appropriate that DJs from Motown on Mondays (aka M.O.M DJs ) Gordo Cabeza and Timoteo Gigante are joining him, as their soulful, Mowtown sounds blend well with Farina's Mushroom Jazz. To add a little soul to your week, make it out Monarch for a little Mushroom Jazz. (CQ)

Event: As You Like It pres. Axel Boman
Venue: Monarch
DJs: Axel Boman, Bells & Whistles, Joel Conway
Music: deep house, tech-house, minimal
Cover: $15-20

Well this sure is some kinda party for a Thursday! Axel Boman, Swedish talent (and, quite frankly, babe) is here to light up the basement dancefloor of Monarch with his particular blend of tech-house that has him akin to the likes of DJ Koze and Seth Troxler. He played a killer headlining set at Sunset Campout two years ago, which means this here dance community knows what they're in for. He's released for top labels like Permanent Vacation, Hypercolour, Studio Barnhus, and his own Petter label. All this on top of touring (and, thankfully, coming to SF alot). Boman is a busy man, but he keeps himself sane by his totally danceable beats that he's been spinning since he was a kid in his hometown of Stockholm before being "discovered" by Koze when opening for his show and handing him a copy of his breakout hit Purple Drank. Head to Monarch this Thursday so you can wake up on Friday with Boman's name on your lips. (ML)

Event: Alan Fitzpatrick
Venue: Public Works
DJs: Alan Fitzpatrick, Mossmoss, Amber Cox
Music: techno, tech-house
Cover: $17 presale
Having enjoyed a breathlessly successful 2015, there can be no doubting Alan Fitzpatrick's position as one of the most influential electronic artists of the moment. Pumped up by yet another series of head-turning productions over the previous twelve months, the Englishman's profile continues to transition rapidly from the techno underground towards the electronic music main stage , attracting significant attention from BBC Radio 1, Mixmag and Resident Advisor and elevating Fitzpatrick to the position of global headliner. A status supported by the release of Fitzpatrick's Fabric 87 mix compilation in April 2016 and the accompanying 25-date tour that will roll out across Europe before touching down in North and South America.

Event: Chloé
Venue: Monarch
DJs: Chloé, 40 Thieves, Mozhgan
Music: electro
Cover: $10-20
Chloé is an institution, an electronic music artist suspended between genres and aesthetics unable to be categorized. With a style born from a true DJ culture and a strength of building a set with a personal vision, the French DJ and producer has developed a unique ear and sound distinctly her own. It is this sound that has led Chloé to being one of the most sought after artists on the contemporary music scene. To file her under 'girl dj' would be to miss the point. If it were in nightclubs across Europe that Chloé refined her talent as a DJ it was at the Music Academy in Paris studying electro acoustics that Chloé focused her talent as a musician. Her live audio-visual shows have seen her play in institutional art spaces and music venues throughout Europe including Paris' Centre Pompidou. Chloé's current residency is at Rex Club in Paris where she curates her party Lumière Noire with international DJs while continuing to evolve and expand her body of work and collaborations with others.

Event: Mercury Soul
Venue: DNA Lounge
DJs: Classical Revolution, One Found Sound, DJ Masonic, DJ Justin Reed, DJ Chris Harnett
Music: classical electronica
Cover: $25-30
San Francisco-bred artist Mason Bates is the link that brings together Mercury Soul, a hybrid classical/house performance night that is returning to San Francisco at the DNA Lounge. For those of us who understand that classical music is not a boring thing for old farts and movie soundtracks, but rather ethereal journeys — much like the house music that we all know and love. Mason Bates knows this too as he combines the two effortlessly to a beautiful synthesis that have wowed audiences everywhere from the Chicago Symphony Orchestra to San Francisco's own Ruby Skye nightclub. Challenge your own perceptions of music, genre, taste, and era with this full night of classical meets house. (ML)

Event: Mark Knight
Venue: Love + Propaganda

In a world where music is often limited to genre handles and buzz sounds, Mark Knight has proven a rare and wonderful breed of integral house heavyweight. With a career spanning more than a decade and a solid reputation on both the digital market and dance floors across the globe, the Grammy-nominated DJ/producer has never rested on the laurels of being one of the industry's most respected and accomplished UK players to date. Ten years strong and responsible for championing a wealth of talent from across the industry spectrum, the award winning Toolroom Records remains a key component in the life and times of Mark Knight. Having spearheaded the label's new direction over the past 2 years as part of their pivotal #RESET campaign, Knight continues to have a leading role within one of the UK's biggest independent record labels. Event: Lights Down Low w/ Scuba
Venue: Monarch
DJs: Scuba, Sleazemore, Richie Panic
Music: techno, bass, electronica
Cover: $10-20
Scuba is a genre-defying electronic artist who keeps it dark while hitting the sonic palates of the bass-enthused as well as the techno elites. While he tends to keep his more hard hitting techno sounds to his SCB alias, Scuba, although more melodic along with the shifts in the dubstep genre, keeps the bass scene brooding and mysterious with his releases on Hotflush. While Hotflush, an often bass-driven album-focused label, moves closer to producing and releasing dancefloor inspired tracks rather than concepts, so too has Scuba. This will an intimate and extended set, and it will be exciting to see where this artist decides to take us on this small portion of the sonic journey that is his career. (ML)

Event: Rob Garza (of Thievery Corporation)
Venue: Public Works
DJs: Rob Garza (DJ Set), divaDanielle, Peter Blick. Moto Tembo
Music: world beats, house
Cover: $15-20 presale
Founding member of international music group Thievery Corporation, Rob Garza's career includes decades-worth of accolades as a pioneer of a flourishing electronic music movement. Originally hailing from Washington, DC, Garza's legacy includes a timeless music catalog that's still in rotation today. His infusion of electronic music with the international flavors of dub, trip hop, reggae, and bossa nova gave birth to a new era of sound that has attracted a cult following across the decades. Since Garzas recent relocation to San Francisco, he has begun a re-exploration of his love for electronic music and beats focusing on Nu-Disco, Deep House while keeping very groove oriented and outer-national based rhythms. Recently he has been djing and remixing, taking things to a spaced out & trippy level.

Event: Tiefschwarz
Venue: Audio
DJs: Tiefschwarz
Music: deep house, techno
Cover: $10 presale
In a world of ever recycled trends, Tiefschwarz (deep black) is that most classic of shades. Its timeless style is testament to its staying power, and with a DJ and production career spanning over 14 years, this German deep house duo have proven just how apt a moniker can be. Born and bred in Stuttgart, brothers Ali and Basti Schwarz's passion for techno and deep house flourished their initial experience as DJs in the early 90's at the now legendary clubs that Ali ran in their hometown, ON –U and Red Dog. This led to the formation of Tiefschwarz in 1997, from which they found rapid success with their debut single 'Music' (on Francois K's Wave Music label) and album Ral 9005. By 2001, this had been licensed to the London label Classic Recordings from where they springboarded to international recognition. They decided to make the move to Berlin, at the time fast becoming the epicentre of a true electronic music renaissance, from where they pursued a hectic touring schedule and remixing the likes of Cassius, The Rapture, Missy Elliott, Kelis and their personal heroes Masters At Work.

He, along with DJ Bo, co-founded Deep Blue and for the last 10 years, have provided the bay with quality house and techno events. Bo is also on the lineup, along with Bardia F, Rachel Toro and Martin Aquino, each throwing down funky beats. If you're not quite ready to end the party, get your booty to Audio to keep on dancing.
