SantaCon 2015
Maybe you're travelling miles for your holiday drinking tradition. Or maybe you're travelling miles to get away from this. Either way, it's always good to know that Santa Con is coming…. to town. Everytime this year, bros and broads gather in the streets of SF to give drinking a bad name, frighten the children, and placate bar owners who wish they could get more business during the days of the holidays. Santa Con is to the rescue. For those of you game for the raucousness, it can be a delightful Bay-to-Breakers-esque event for those likeminded that truly enjoy this celebration of holiday spirit. Get your costumes ready, find out which bars are offering Santa specials (last year's roster include Doc's Clock, Harlot, Wish Bar, and more). Expect costume contests as well as DJs. Here's a merry ho ho ho to you! Date: Saturday, December 12, Time: noon, Place: starts at Union Square, Cover: none, link More Info (ML)

Event: Tutu Tuesday
Venue: Harlot
Artists: emanate, JOill
Music: tech house, techno, house
Cover: $10, or $2 b4 11 in tutu
Everything's better when you wear a tutu. That's why Tutu Tuesday took the Tuesday Burning Man ritual back to the Bay once that thing in the desert is complete. And many San Franciscans share the same sentiment, with many donning their favorite tutu and dancing the night away at Harlot. Today is no exception. This week's installment features the musical stylings of emanate, a duo made up of Nathan Vain and Emily Fox who share a passion for music. Their passion led to their joining forces to create emanate, as well as the label, Mioli, on which they've released music as both a duo and as individuals. Also on deck is JOill, who brings her deep tech sound. Find your most fun tutu, and be sure to wear that tonight while you dance the night away at Harlot. (CQ)

Event: Housepitality
Venue: F8
DJs: Justin Long, Tyrel Williams, Marty Mars
Music: house
Cover: no cover b4 10pm w/RSVP, $5 early bird tickets on RA, $10 otherwise

Chicago native Justin Long discovered his fascination for uncanny music at an early age when his mother entrusted him with her record collection that spanned from UK punk to American dance. This served as a gateway, stimulating his journey into the sonic vortex. As a child of Medusa's on Sheffield, Long gained a higher level of musical education. His weekly pilgrimages to this venue's all-ages hedonistic dance parties supplied a compelling musical concoction of acid house, UK bleep, industrial and new wave. Possessed by these unorthodox forms of music, Long purchased his first set of turntables and began to collect 12-inch singles from local record shops. Though his intentions were solely to pander to his musical appetite in the privacy of his bedroom, this acquisition proved to be the genesis of a voyage that continues to present him with new challenges that are met with an unforgiving dogmatic approach.

With a brand new Void sound system, fully remodeled main room, and state of the art lights and visuals, Temple is creating an all new nightlife experience. And this Friday night Green Velvet (aka Cajmere) will be mastering the decks. Cajmere studied chemical engineering at the University of Illinois, where he exposed himself to the energetic culture and lifestyle of house. In 1991, midway though graduate school, Cajmere returned to Chicago to pursue his dream of producing house music. In 1992, after surviving on cheese sandwiches and maximizing credit limits, Cajmere finally made an imprint on the dance community with his infectious experiment, "Coffee Pot" (It's Time for the Percolator) – Clubhouse Records. Then he moved on to more complex musical and lyrical arrangements with songs like Lidell Townsell's "Get With U" (Mercury Records). The Cajmere and Dajae collaboration resulted in a #2 Billboard Dance Chart and International dance hit - "Brighter Days". It was at this point that Cajmere decided to start Cajual Records. Having his own label gave Cajmere the autonomy to attain his goal of developing a sound that was representative of Chicago - thus, putting Chicago back on the map.

Can you believe that one of the oldest parties in the city is now experiencing its 24th anniversary. Just shy of the big quarter century, this doesn't mean that old school and new-to-the-party revelers should withhold from having a great night. The Gathering started just a year after this humble writer was born, proving that a) some things never get old (me, obviously) and b) enjoying a good party, surrounded by great people in great places is always what's up. The event features hyper-local DJs — and, yes, this party has been around since before that buzzword even existed. Highlights include Disco Knights' Anthony Mansfield and DJ M3, Dusty Rhino's DJ Dan, Housepitality's Tyrell Williams, and more and more and more. It'll be housed at legendary and super old-skool feels spot, The Factory. The event of the weekend. (ML)

A classic East Coast party was born. Wonder-full falls on the weekend of Stevie's May 13 birthday and features handpicked rare and funky covers from Spinna's and Bobbito's vaults. Today, KeiStar Productions spearheads sole production of the now incontestable and world renown WONDER-Full event.
