Jack Beats have a plan. That plan involves taking the very best, most spectacularly effective pieces from a vast array of different musical genres and blending them together into an irrepressible force that detonates on contact. Through their six singles and a string of monstrous remixes for the likes of Skream, Beyoncé, Aloe Blacc and many more, they have formed a relationship with an increasingly hungry audience. since they put out their first Jack Beats track in 2007, Niall and Ben are both multiple award winning DJs; in a previous life Niall was DJ Plus One from Scratch Perverts while Ben was a founder member of The Mixologists. Serious turntablists, the pair inhabited a world where endless hours were spent practising scratch routines. Eekkoo's approach to composition is unique. Not bound by genre or style, he focuses instead on crafting bold, innovative sound textures that dictate the orientation of his music. His method is thoughtful yet confident, with a default setting that leans towards both raw power and subtle seduction.

While Heiko Laux is more than just a German techno dungeon DJ, he is renowned for his dark and banging sound that has done its fair share of gracing the temple of this particular sound. While Berghain is so often considered the apex of this niche style, as the global community continues to grow, there become more and more hubs for this form of musical release. In San Francisco it would be safe to say that the home of techno lies in Direct to Earth, DTE for short. They last brought Laux to the Bay with a great underground almost two years ago and now they'll bring that vibe back with Laux in tow with DTE residents and a Common Ground backroom takeover. Hello Saturday. (ML)

Event: Kenny Glasgow
Venue: Audio
DJs: Kenny Glasgow (Art Department), Rachel Torro

Kenny Glasgow is a North American electronic music pioneer, a role he's held for over two decades. Though the Canadian star has spent the last 5 years as the half of the acclaimed duo Art Department, functioning as a musical engineer, composer of both music and lyrics, and vocalist, he is now returning to his solo roots. Before he started touring the world, releasing influential full lengths, headlining huge festivals and gracing the cover of taste making magazines with Jonny White, Kenny Glasgow already had a cult and loyal following dating back to the early nineties. Glasgow first became immersed in the scene as a promoter, putting on illicit warehouse parties in his native Toronto before progressing to become resident at acid house mecca The Buzz and later the world famous Industry Nightclub. It was there that he picked up a sense of what worked dance floors, both in terms of DJing and production. Always putting these lessons to great use whether solo or with Art Department, his own emotive, tortured sounding and unique gravelly vocals have very much become his trademark.
