Today she's a globe-trotting DJ femme-fatale with a vault of Chicago and Detroit house gems that have become the core of her creative house-based sets. This Wednesday at F8 she'll show off just how passionate she is about good house music.

Event: Bob Sinclar
Venue: Vessel
DJs: Bob Sinclar, G-Stav
Music: house, disco
Cover: $30 presale
If you've been to his last two shows in SF you know that Bob's blend of french house, deep house and disco takes you on a one of a kind journey through house music history. If you haven't seen him live, this event is likely to blow your mind. Bob Sinclar is the man who put the groove back onto the dance floor. A man who marches to the beat of his own tune, whether it's the discotastic 12" delights of 'World Hold On' and 'Love Generation', to the deep and soulful beats of his Africanism movement, or the near-obsession with reggae and dance hall that has filled his production work of late.

Event: Derrick May
Venue: Monarch
DJs: Derrick May, Rooz, Bo, JJ Shay, Corbin
Music: house, detroit house, techno
Cover: $20-30
I'm not sure what house and techno would be without Derrick May. Detroit has played such an integral part in the evolution of the style, and has churned out so many influential artists, it's sometimes a bit hard to keep track of what happened when. Well, Friday sees a true legend come to SF. Referred to as "The Innovator", Derrick was one of the Belleville Three, alongside high school friends Kevin Saunderson and Juan Atkins. Together, they made up the first trailblazing wave of Detroit techno artists. Derrick may be best well known for his "Strings of Life", a classic piano-and-strings Detroit techno track that you've probably heard even if you don't know it, but his music producing days have seemed to come to a close. For a while now, he's been focused on his label, and his DJing - and i'm very thankful he hasn't let up on the latter. Don't miss your chance to see a legend this Friday, and get ready to hear techno with a whole lot of Motor City soul. (AO)

Event: Direct to Earth Family Night
Venue: F8
DJs: Max Gardner, Patrick Gil, Brian Knarfield, Bob V, and all DTE residents
Music: techno, tech-house
Cover: no cover w/ Facebook RSVP, otherwise $5
All hail ZORG, and also, all hail Direct to Earth. DTE is a Bay Area-based collective that has revolutionized the techno community in our fair Bay Area. Promoting not only honest-to-goodness techno and underground vibes over flashy clubs, but also the community necessary to create any sort of scene, DTE has changed the landscape of our region's electronic sound. Tonight is a family night, featuring the residents and organizers of the collective, such as Max Gardner and Patrick Gil who have also taken on great roles as supporting DJs for the likes of Ben Klock, Truncate and Marcel Dettman, as well as headlining numerous local underground parties - both those by DTE and other collectives of the area. Tonight is about DTE itself, but also about the community of people who have rallied together to support them, those who show that there is a solid interest in this sound and scene. The no cover with RSVP is a gift from DTE to you, as a thank you for helping them to be all that they have become. As DTE says "here's to techno, and here's to you". (ML)

Event: Perception - Metamorphosis

Come pay homage to this legendary location that has been a staple for house music in San Francisco for well over a decade. Perception will be doing their last party at Supperclub to honor the venue that has seen international djs and SF legends grace the decks and delight house music fans for many years! To send off the last Friday of this historical venue headline DJ Diego Valle will be commanding the decks. Over the years he's developed a sound that is unique and influential by exploring the connective threads between deep house, classic house, and more modern tech house. The last few years have seen Diego blossom in the studio which has led to the launch of his own imprint, LT HM. Started as an avenue for him to release his music, it has now become an internationally recognized label.

Event: Psychemagik & Eric Duncan
Venue: Public Works
DJs: Psychemagik, Eric Duncan, Eug
Music: disco, house, balearic
Cover: $15-20
Space disco time! Woo! I, for one, have slept on Psychemagik for far too long. Their name is a little silly to me, I'm sorry! And for that, I ignored them for far too long. But I've known better for a bit now, and these guys are awesome. They're amazing crate diggers and proud owners of some obscene amount of some widely sought after slices of wax, something especially evident in their slower, home listening minded mixes (there are plenty on their Soundcloud account). These guys just go ahead and make whatever they want - great edits, slow synth-rock ballads, straight up house n techno… A pair of true musicians. Eric Duncan makes it a double headliner. 1/2 of both Rub N Tug and Still Going for quite some time now, Eric's recently found himself releasing alongside Rhythm Odyssey on the much-loved Golf Channel Label, making funny and funky lush disco that hits in all the right places. (AO)

Event: Treasure Fingers
Venue: Audio
DJs: Treasure Fingers, BONES
Music: electro-disco
Cover: no cover b4 11pm w/ RSVP, otherwise $10-20
Treasure Fingers is one hell of a party - and one that he'll be bringing to Audio Discotech this Friday night. The Atlanta-born artist creates a super high energy, sometimes dark and dirty, choppy sound that treads a line between bass, house, and electro. It's a hands in the air kind of sound and one that is sure to create some foot stomping. With icons like Eric Prydz and Romanthony, you know that this is electro-style disco with some serious pop energy. Treasure Fingers has brought down the house at Audio twice before, and now we're ready to bust a move with him once more this Friday. (ML)

Event: DJ Dan
Venue: Hawthorn
DJs: DJ Dan, Dean Samaras

Cover: no cover b4 10:30 with rsvp, $15 presale

From forming Funky Techno Tribe in 1993 to being rated the #1 House DJ in 2006 by DJ Mag. Dan continues to be one of the strongest voices and most powerful influencers in the world of electronic music today. Witness a true house music hero on Hawthorn's World-Class VOID system!

Event: DJ M3 Birthday Bash
Venue: Monarch
DJs: Mike Simonetti, DJ M3, Anthony Mansfield, Shiny Objects, Joey Alaniz, Shane One, Joel Conway
Music: tech-house
Cover: $10-15
We're huge fans of DJ M3 over here at Nitevibe. The Monarch head and leader of Green Gorilla Lounge is a huge part of what makes San Francisco such a special place for dance music. Tonight will be a party in his honor. Considering that M3 is a DJ's DJ, he will of course be spinning at his own party. For a DJs DJ, there is no better gift than being able to spin. Bring your staches and glasses for a costume birthday that will be one for the books. (ML)

Event: Hernan Cattaneo
Venue: Mighty
DJs: Hernan Cattaneo, Syd Gris, Kimba, Zita Molnar, Grammar, emanate
Music: progressive house, house, techno
Hernan Cattaneo is back at Mighty once again. Hernan Cattaneo has been going at it for 30 years now and is also the man behind the Sudbeat label, which has seen releases from Guy J, Henry Saiz, and Danny Howells. A few months back, in October '14, Hernan put together Balance's 26th edition. The result was a double-CD package of nostalgia, equal parts downtempo and progressive house. More associated with the latter, Hernan's sweet spot is alongside Sasha and Digweed's stylings of the 90's. Set and Opel round out the night, bringing you Syd Gris, Kimba, and more local favs. Presales are rolling out, and if you have some extra cash to burn and want to skip the line, there's a ticket for that this time too! Event: ICEE HOT 5-Year Anniversary and 28 Hour Goodbye Party
Venue: Public Works
DJs: Robert Hood, Andy Stott(live), Gerd Janson, Matrixxman & Vin Soul, Jason Kendig and Jackie Cheon + ICEE HOT residents
Music: tech-house, deep house, techno, and more
Cover: $5-20
Its a two-for kind of party - or maybe more like a 28-for one party. ICEE HOT, local party collective is celebrating not only their five year anniversary, but also, sadly, the end of their reign here. That being said, they certainly know how to go out with a bang, as the crew brings a Berlin-style party, with Berlin-style talent of epic proportions to Public Works for this dance marathon. While it's true that you don't have to stay the whole time, with an ultra hot lineup featuring Robert Hood, Andy Stott, and more, you know you'll want to. Catch the early bird prices for an absolute steal on this party to remember. (ML)

Tue>>Wed>>Thur>>Fri>>Sat>>Sun>>BUZZ Archive

Event: WERD
Venue: Monarch
DJs: Henry Chow, Sasha Braverman
Music: ouse, tech-house
Cover: $5-10
And now for some southern comfort. Werd is bringing the guys behind one of Texas' big parties, Rekliner. These two have been keeping things quality down South, making sure not skimp on their bookings, but they're no strangers to the best coast either! The two of them played Kontrol before its fateful closing, and have been featured on As You Like It's earlier "Shit Show" podcast. Since then, Henry Chow has found himself releasing over the years, most notably on Marco Carola's Zenit label, and the two of them show no sign of slowing down. Catch them Sunday for a lil dance before the week starts off! (AO)
