Just as influenced by The Velvet Underground as he is by Daft Punk, Murphy's work with LCD Soundsystem takes driving house beats, searing synths, and eccentric, half-spoken vocals, throws it all in a big funky blender, and pours it into a radio-friendly pop form. His DJ sets consist of material that has inspired his personal sound through the years, as well as tracks he's produced himself. Either way, the jams laid down by this DIY boundary-pusher will be sure to get the house jumping. (GB)
