Festie season is beginning and what better way to celebrate than with a pre-party to the main attraction? Lunar Burn and Bass Cellar have teamed up to provide a lineup of festival proportions. In the Bass Cellar room, it's an East Coast takeover with Gangsta Fun, Witness and Durtysneakz joining Alpaca and Miss Haze to drop the bassiest beats imaginable. Holding it down in the Lunar Burn room are Dragn'fly, DJ Lurid, Adam Ant, Precision and Dizko Kidz throwing down some heaters. (CQ) |

Rusko, aka Christopher Mercer, is almost single-handedly responsible for bringing dubstep from its dark, contemplative underground roots to the fun, rave-ready, massive-approved fame it enjoys today. To Americans especially, his name is nearly synonymous with the burgeoning genre. His mega hit, "Cockney Thug" was played across airwaves the world over and remixed by Caspa, Crookers, Buraka Som Sistema and a multitude of others. One half of the French electro duo, The Youngsters, with Laurent Garnier, Rodriguez Jr, aka Olivier Mateu, sticks to his roots as a hard-hitting tech-house producer. He uses vintage gear and analog synths to construct his beats, preferring the classic sounds of house and techno originators. The production value on his tracks however, sounds crisp and clean, the obvious touch of a master. There are intricate layers of kicks, snares, hats, and synths, with sharp accents popping out from time to time and then quickly receding into the mix.
