Project Nunway
This Sunday afternoon and evening, treat yourself to the wildest runway show in San Francisco featuring the fabulous Sisters of Perpetual Indulgence. This badass charity fashion show pairs the Sisters with designers to collaborate on high art couture made out of recycled materials. Drawing inspiration from this year's 2012 theme, the Sisters and artists will work the Nunway in true end-of-the-world fashions and attitudes. All proceeds will benefit the Sisters' general fund, which supports their various fundraising and community awareness programs. The Haute Holidays Show
The 3rd Annual Haute Holidays Show at Mighty is one of the largest showcases of local designers available to you this holiday season. If you are looking for thoughtful, handcrafted gifts for your special loved ones that will make them say "where did you get this?" and you respond "only in San Francisco," then this is the anti-mall experience for you. With over 25 designers sharing their wares and DJs Kramer, Ethan and 8-Ball offering tunes to inspire your spree, this is a unique opportunity to have fun with your friends while shopping in style. Peter Samuels will also be taking portraits at the event so feel free to dress up and try on pieces by talents such as Silver Lucy, Venus Superstar and Warrior Within Designs to name a few. Santacon
This Saturday, all wayward Santas descend upon SF's bars and clubs for a ridiculously raucous celebration of the iconic red and white suit. While there is no direct route this year, there will be plenty of meeting points to be announced later this week on the Santacon Facebook page. A couple noteworthy stops to set on your march are JohnJohn's and Mancub's Santacon Smackdown at The Lookout (a great place to catch a great view of legions of Santas scattered in the Castro) and Monarch's long list of DJs billed for their all day dance party in SOMA. Note: messing with children, police, and public property is expressly prohibited but messing with other Santas is strongly encouraged. You better watch out, Santas are coming to town! So You Think You Can Paint?
Club Six is opening up its walls every Thursday towards a very cool opportunity for artists to try their skill at a large-scale project. The venue will provide the space, the paint, and the brushes while participants get as much of the 8 foot walls covered in the 4 hours allotted. Meanwhile, cheap drinks will be served while Mr. Robinson serves up some downtempo tracks so the energy will be ideal for both painters and supportive observers. Detroit native, San Francisco transplant Rich Korach is set to blast on Housepitality's weekly techno stage. He made a stir as a resident for Paxahau, legendary Detroit production company, and is now making waves in our own community as a resident for the ever popular As You Like It events. Rich's sincerity and sense of humor are as much to attribute to his success in this tight community. These qualities also shine through in his music selection which can vary from light and airy to dark and dirty. Regarded as one of the most important dance music figures in the UK, Greg Wilsonis credited for exposing the post-disco electronica coming out of New York in the 80s to a whole new audience. Stevie Wonder's influence on modern music cannot be understated. At age 11, he was signed to Motown Records, and started producing hit after hit shortly thereafter. Along with artists like Marvin Gaye and The Jackson 5 he was responsible for developing what would later become known as "The Motown Sound." His work has inspired generations of musicians in genres ranging from hip-hop to jazz to R&B to electronic and everywhere in between. NYC DJ, Spinna, caught the Stevie bug years ago when he and Bobbito started the first Wonder-full parties in New York.
