Temple of Poi Fire Dancing Expo
In a city teeming with burners and all their related activities, it's no surprise that San Francisco is a breeding ground for a staggering number of people who are into fire--both admirers of and players with. In fact, here in the Bay Area exists one of the largest fire dancing communities in the world--and its popularity has not tainted its cool factor one bit. And while part of its appeal is its underground, show-up-and-burn-in-a-parking-lot-and-hope-the-cops-don't-shut-you-down factor, it would be nice to see the art form granted a bit more legitimacy in the dance/performance spectrum. With this in mind, the Temple of Poi presents their 6th Fire Dancing Expo--selected for the 4th consecutive year as one of Bay Area Dance Week's cornerstone events--bringing together Bay Area fire dancers alongside international legends to wow you with their mad pyro skills and present you with one pretty awesome show. Date: Sat 4/23, Time: 5:30-9:30pm, Place: Union Square, Cover: no cover (donations appreciated), link More Info (JE)

From the creators of Earthdance and Harmony Festival, the all-day festival features a holistic exploration of the cannabis plant with expert panels, workshops, visionary art installations, 75+ exhibitors and gourmet natural foods, a medical dispensary showcase and vapor room, plus an evening concert and dance party. Be apart of the medical cannabis industry's growth and evolution with this celebration of health, ecology, art, and music.
