Underground
Resistance
Blasthaus needs your help as they go before a committee Thursday
to obtain a beer/wine license to support a new unique social art
space. Blasthaus is the underground art, film, music and technology
collective that has brought you parties like Joypad as well as
cutting edge mega acts like yesterdays’s Jazzanova show
at Ruby Skye. Did you go to Groova Armada, Thievery Corporation,
Blue States, Vikter Duplaix? You can thank Blasthaus for all of
that. Their latest venture is a chill-out gallery, screening room,
lecture space and music center opening in the Tenderloin. The
“Realspace” project has been jumping hurdles since
day one from lack of funds to leaky pipe and retrofitting issues.
After overcoming all this, yet another smackdown from police and
SF politicians are preventing “Realspace” from becoming
a real space. The crew needs to obtain a beer/wine license for
revenue in order to keep their independent art-loving asses in
gear. Though The TNDC (Tenderloin Community Group) supports the
space which will bring new life and culture to the TL, another
permit for alcohol in this area is going to be a difficult fight
as Blasthaus attempts to convey the message that this is NOT another
club or rowdy party space, it is a cultural center intent on uplifting
the neighborhood. What you can do to help: By this Thursday, 1)
Sign
the petition, 2) write a letter of recommendation for
Blasthaus to give to local politicians. Fax 415 567 3722 or e-mail

Raves: The Evolution of the Glow stick
Celebrate a decade of music, dance, and friendship with SFRaves
and a free outdoor party in the park. These guys have been dedicated
to the rave/clubbing community since the early years, helping
you find that rat-infested warehouse, with the crazy underground
party, or acting as resource for .B-side dancing. They will be
playing a variety of anthems from the years 1992-2002 so you can
share stories of glory days blowing whistles, in unison with other
candy ravers in day-glo visors. Remember when you were up on all
the latest advancements in pharmaceutical psychedelics? Pictures
will be on hand, but bring your own as well, so everyone can work
together to trace the evolution of the glow stick. This event
is all ages, and fresh fruit and water will be given out for free.

Romantic Scintillation is back for two days of flesh-flanked fun.
The most talented toe-licking funfest to come to the city. Last

with rave revues. This year San Francisco will be host to this
scantily clad diamond studded event. You will be able to witness
these heavenly bodies on stage at Bimbo’s 365 club. Sexy
performers have been gathered from all corners of the world to
thrill and excite. During the day there are classes available
from everything from dance workshops with Hot Pink Feathers to
burlesque comedy. Classes will be held at Broadway studios. Expect
to be educated on the ways of tease, which is surely aimed to

Sound
Sculpture
Every Friday and Saturday at the Audium, a sound sculpture is
being created. The Audium is a non-profit sound gallery that is
funded mostly by the National Endowment for the Arts. The theatre
has only 49 seats placed in concentric circles. The speakers are
placed under, on top, in front and in back of the seats so you
get a 360 degree 3D sound experience rumbling above and below
your seat. There's no four by four beats but if you're interested
in where sound technology is going - this is a very cool show.

The
DJ Project for Youth
There's more to the DJ scene then killer parties. A few DJ's are
giving back to the community through the DJ project. Started in
2001, the DJ project helps "at-risk" teens handle tough
situations through music. The groups second CD was finished early
this summer and the kids are currently working on getting the
CD into stores. The artists who helped out were Azeem (Spearhead,
VU) and DJ Zeph (WideHive, VU), right now the group is looking
for artists to help with their new crew of kids, one group of
girls and one group of boys. Let’s do it! More

Music: hip hop underground
Cover: $16
Grunge god Slug brings us meditative emo suburban rap that rocks.
So he goes on too long about his X-girlfriend so what? You can
relate. An underground sound worth checking which some have been
so brave as to call their “crossover album.” Beats
are bump’in with originality come early. Despite what you
think, you are not the first on your block to hear about this.

Music: electro, punk, new wave, lounge

Sex Noise. Personally I don’t make noises like this when
I have sex. It’s more like a mix between punk rock and diva
house, but that’s just me. Perhaps you chirp and rumble
like electro or lull about synth-like for your sex noises. Either
way, come on down and enjoy the dirty sounds at Arrow. Did you
see the film Hysterical Blindness with Uma Thurman and Juliet
Lewis? It’s about these girls from North Jersey hanging
around bars in 1984. Rent it.

It’s all good in the hood in this dungeon like atmosphere.
This place is fairly quite on a Tuesday. But, you never know who
might appear. I met a multi million-dollar tourist one night.
Then kicked it with some pretty chill neighborhood crew another.
I suggest this spot for beginning your week, and especially if
you really fuckin’ cheap. $1 shots. And $3 drinks &
wells. Bring your homies just to chill and get ripped. You can
almost always get on the pool table too. Well maybe, this party
is only for the serious alcoholics. Did she say, “$1 SHOTS?”

purposely schedule DJs that make no sense together to confuse
you, piss you off and make you come out and represent YOUR style.
Death ambient mentalist OST has played here with house happy Ben

If your at Cloud Nine and the room starts spinning, don't worry
its not the drinks. You're just on the rotating bed. I like it
when they put the tables right in front of the club so you you
jazzed up to check out the other two floors they have in this
club; the very "south Beach" and so is the crowd. The
music however is dubby, loungy, exotic house. Those Zen City kids
are always keeping people moving towards the dance floor.

It looks like September is a very special month where nobody in
particular is spinning- ha ha. Well, that’s what I thought
last week. Let’s just say they’re not advertising
who is spinning. Just recently, I danced, actually jumped, around
the dance floor (please make space ladies), to a DJ I never heard
of before -- Chris Lum. The house music was thumping. I mean,
it caused me to relive crazy thoughts like…”Jeez,
we should just start taking acid again like how we went dancing
years ago…” To me, that’s good music. Whoever
the international talent is, the crowd is always full of experienced
clubbers and the dance floor always too crowded for me to show
you my REAL signature moves.

the Ko Pha Ngan happy hour is psy-trance, Baby, of the fastest
and most delicious kind. Resident DJ Pulsar takes no prisoners
on the dance floor and the guest DJs that surround her at this

together several elements of the artistic community to give you
a more diverse menu for your clubbing experience. Spoken word

Well the flyer from DNA says something about West Coast innovators.
Did they move to the West Coast? I had no idea. These guys popped
in my hometown of Baltimore along time ago, and I knew Hipp-E
was from Denver, and Halo from Chicago. Whatever the point is
they represent the West Coast sound, play big parties and festivals,
and will surely put a club like the DNA on its ass…or feet.
The downstairs will definitely be out of hand with crazy breaks
jumping from speaker to speaker. Grab the person closest too you
and hold to them when you’re legs start to feel weak-or
just head upstairs where the music will still be deadly, but a
little more sublime, and chilled out. The Om party is always essential.

The DJs, this party’s name and even the flyer…I can’t
a give high enough recommendation for this party. The gang from
Sunburn/ Hardkiss records is brutally imposing some delicious
tribal house and breaks on the crowd at 111. In a way, I hope
no one reads this and just goes to the foam party instead. My
editor thinks I really got it on for thongs (I do) but I swear,
drunk Latina sluts are an even more appealing thing to me. That
girl on the flyer…she’s just waiting for something
hot, macho o feminita to whisper those two scared words to, “aye
papi”. Getting away from my own fantasies for a moment,
I’ve got to mention that the music is going to fucking rock
( in an ecstatic soaked house sense of course) so come in comfortable
shoes, or just kick them off when you get here.
