Santacon
Chances are, if you've been living here for at least a year you are familiar with the sea of red and white that floods the streets (and more importantly, the bars) of SF once a year in December. Guys and girls give it their all to cavort around town for no other reason than it's huge fun all in the name of Santa. Yes, it's time once again for Santacon--the one day where YOU get to be Santa (if Santa was an overzealous miscreant whose main objective was to run amok spreading good cheer and hilarity to the locals--wait--yeah, you get to be Santa!). If you haven't ever participated, it's probably worth doing at least once. But remember the rules, boys and girls: 1) Don't f**k with kids, 2) Don't f**k with cops, 3) Don't f**k with security, 4) Don't f**k with Santa. (it's okay to f**k Santa), Date: Sat 12/4, Time: tba, Place: tba, Cover: no cover, More Info (JE)
Lower Haight Holiday Art Walk
The last Lower Haight Art Walk I was at was so happenin' it could have been mistaken for a full-on street party. Huge numbers of folks were strolling around, drinking wine and checking out all types of cool stuff from unique vendors and stores, and the mood was downright festive. So this latest holiday art walk pretty much guarantees the neighborhood's gonna be full of more festivities--with live music, food, art, merchant discounts & specials along with a window decorating contest, and scavenger hunt! D-Structure, Lower Haighters, Idle Hand Tattoos (offering '$60 Get what you Get" tattoos, hmm...), and Trunk SF are just a handful of the participating merchants, so come ring in the Holidays with this extra dose of good tidings and cheer! Date: Fri 12/3, Time: 6-9:30pm, Place: Lower Haight, Cover: no cover, More Info (JE)
TransportedSF: "Bus of Jews"
Chanukah is not the "Jewish Christmas," nor does it carry great religious significance, but its lamentable proximity to the celebration of Jesus has forced humbled Heebs to see menorah-stenciled greeting cards beside tree ornaments in stores and to fake Christmas cheer at the debaucherous fiestas in His name. Choice, when it comes to celebrating, has been painfully limited-- but not so anymore, my good-time lovin' Jewish friends! Enter TransportedSF's "Bus of Jews"- the Chanukah Celebration for Jews and Jew-lovers, featuring all the traditional elements like menorah lighting, latkes, and dreidel playing--aboard one of the hippest roaming parties in town--complete with DJs Matt Haze and Alxndr spinning some world-crunk and dubstep for your dancing pleasure. It just may be the best thing that's happened to Chanukah since the Adam Sandler song. Date: Thur 12/2, Time: 8:30-11pm, Place: pick up at The Contemporary Jewish Museum (Mission & 3rd), Cover: $25, More Info (JE)
