First he hosted house parties, then became a resident at the all-night loft party "Boiler Room," SF's first big disco I-Beam, and Trocadero Transfer. In 1980 he landed a gig on Sundays at The Endup playing tunes with a soulful edge from 6am-2pm, which many credit as the beginning of "Church." (EB) |
