LovEvolution 2009
Since last year's Lovefest, San Francisco's now retitled LovEvolution has become America's largest electronic music event. The revelers have gathered in dramatically increasing numbers since the first parade in 2004. Dancing along the streets following their favorite floats, a flood of decorated hooligans storm the Civic Center Plaza in a fabulous frenzy of music and love. The organizers have implemented a $10 cover charge this year to offset expanding city expenses but with over 250 DJs on the bill including Lee Burridge on the Listed float, Doc Martin with Triple Crown, Deadmau5 on Spundae, and The Martinez Brothers rocking the Mighty Pink Mammoths, this party is worthy every penny. Don't miss out on one of San Francisco's most exciting yearly spectacles. Date: Sat 10/3, Time: 12-8pm, Place: 2nd & Market to Civic Center Plaza, Cover: $10, More Info (CG)

Sketch Tuesdays
Each month 111 Minna gallery hosts an evening of live art making featuring both established and emerging Bay Area artists. This event offers patrons the opportunity to see local artists at work and get acquainted with them. It is also a way for artists to meet each other and to be inspired by each other's creative process. Sketch Tuesdays is a place to congregate, to talk, to create and to be seen. There is usually room for artists to just drop in and start drawing, but the good seats are reserved for the invited artists. It's a perfect hybrid of DJing, underground art, culture and good ol' fashioned partying. Date: Tue 9/29, Time: 6-10pm, Place: 111 Minna Gallery, Cover: no cover, More Info (WF)
