SF Pride Parade
No city in the world has more Pride than San Francisco, the gay capital of America and possibly the gayest metropolis since Greco-Roman times. An estimated 30% of SF residents identify somewhere on the LGBTQ spectrum and an overwhelming majority of residents are gay-friendly allies. Despite how far we've come, there are still more battles to be won on the gay front and using visibility is one of the most effective ways to fight. It's time to show the world once again why San Francisco is the proudest city with one of the largest Pride Parades in the world expecting over one million to attend. Although SF is (in)famous for its fabulous gay boys and drag queens, we can't forget about our luscious lezzie ladies! Dykes on Bikes, led by the Women's Motorcycle Contingent in SF, will lead the Pride Parade on Sunday, and Dyke March is on Saturday starting in Dolores Park at 7pm (rally begins at 3pm). Nothing will change if we stay in the closet, so as Harvey Milk said "come out, come out, wherever you are!" Date: Sun 6/28, Time: 10:30am-12:30pm, Place: Market St from Beale to 8th St, Cover: no cover, link More Info (EB)

Funk n' Trunk
"Shopping, shmopping." Why bother fighting crowds at the mall, aimlessly pushing through racks of clothes and accessories that everybody else is already wearing, all the while getting hungry and thirsty and getting later by the minute for that party you should already be at?  Why tax yourself like this when you could be relaxing with drinks, eats, and beats while pursuing 20 of San Francisco's best independent designers and their funky fashions and luxe accoutrements--all under one roof? Whether it's HipStirr Belts or customized garment design from Gelareh or wrist stockings from Threads by Cho-Cho, you are guaranteed to be at the tip of the fashion iceberg with anything you find here. All that with cocktails, food, and DJ's. What mall? Date: Sat 6/27, Time: 2pm-7pm, Place: Triple Crown, Cover: no cover, link More Info (JE)

Frank Chu 4 You!
Is anyone unaware of Frank Chu these days? The man in his distinctive gray suit and sunglasses seen wandering downtown SF, UC Berkeley, and every hipster event with picket signs bearing his trademark "12 Galaxies," and protesting offenders such as those "guiltied to a Zegnatronic Rocket Society." Since the mid 90's he has officially reached local icon status. Tonight, Pancake Playhouse, the camp who feeds breakfast to hungry burners along with the gentle sounds of soft rock has managed to include one of his original signs along with the purchase of your ticket to their party. Tasty pancakes will be provided as well, of course, plus funk and 80's tunes from resident DJs. But, to own a Frank Chu original--simply priceless! Date: Sat 6/27, Time: 7-11pm, Place: 111 Minna, Cover: $20 (includes admission to Barracuda! starting at 11pm), link More Info (JE)
