Bay to Breakers
The best reason to wake up early on a Sunday is without a doubt the Bay to Breakers, a wacky, free spirited footrace/moving party across San Francisco. From kegs in shopping carts, mobile bars and floats to crazy costumes, naked people, and spawning salmon, Bay to Breakers embodies the dynamic, fun-loving San Francisco spirit. This year the organizers of the event have banned alcohol due to the amount of garbage and public urination last year, so let's be classier this year! Tuesday is the last day to officially register, which helps cover the costs of this well loved and celebrated event. The race ends at the ocean followed by an after party, Footstock, at the polo field featuring Music for Animals and DJ Scotty Fox. Bring a bag of tortillas to the starting line for the annual tortilla toss downtown. Date: Sun 5/17, Time: race 8am-12pm, Footstock 9:30am-2pm, Place: Embarcadero & Howard to Great Highway, Cover: $48 race registration, no cover @ Footstock, More Info (EB)
