St. Stupid's Day Parade
Ah, April Fool's Day, the time we all get to play tricks on each other and shout "April Fools!" with glee. Well, in case this tried-and-true tradition has become a little stale for all you pranksters, why not join in on the 31st Annual St. Stupid's Day Parade? You can dress up in your favorite costume of ridiculocity and storm the streets of the financial district to mock the system and stick it to the man. Pink slips and eviction notices are encouraged to bring for delivery to the HQ's of the not-so-free market, as well as drums and other "noise production devices." Why not? In this time of layoffs and other recession-era manifestations, we could all use a little St. Stupid to cheer our weary souls. Date: Wed 4/1, Time: 12pm, Place: Starts at Embarcadero Plaza, Cover: no cover, More Info (JE)

Ratatat
The music that guitarist Mike Stroud and synthesizer driver and producer Evan Mast make is the sound of Ratatat. The electronic duo is almost entirely instrumental, weaving spacey synths through warm harmonic melodies against a pulsing drumkit beat. It's the sound of lazy summer days and sunny roadtrip journeys, incorporating live purcussion into laptop atmospherics. The band has toured in the past with Bjork, Daft Punk, Mouse on Mars, Interpol, Franz Ferdinand, The Faint, and The Killers to name a few, and now appear in San Francisco at the beginning of their Spring 2009 tour. Their live shows are known for being a kind of adventure, so strap on your magical seatbelt and enjoy the ride. Date: Wed 4/1 & Thur 4/2, Time: 8pm, Place: The Fillmore, Cover: $25, More Info (JE)
