Dust & Illusions - Burning Man
We all know that beloved festival in Black Rock is more than just a giant rave in the desert (or at least that's what we're telling people to maintain the illusion we're not complete degenerates). As Burning Man grows each year with its expanding appeal to the mainstream, the evidence of its sociopolitical relevance becomes more and more convoluted and its participants, revelers, and leaders increasingly divided on the meaning of the event. Shot over four years and including insightful interviews and archival footage of the early years, director Olivier Bonin's documentary Dust and Illusions examines the history and original philosophies of Burning Man, and poses questions about its potential to reinvent itself from a collosal party to a much more significant movement. Date: Saturday 3/28, Time: 8pm-10pm, Place: Chez Poulet (3359 Cesar Chavez St.), Cover: $15, link More Info (JE)
