Santacon
You better watch out. You better not cry. You better not pout, I'm telling you why: because this Saturday a storm of Santas will take over the streets in a holiday frenzy of merriment and "ho-ho-ho-ing." The first Santacon happened in 1994 in San Francisco with a few dozen Santas causing Christmas chaos downtown. Fifteen years later the event now attracts hundreds of Santas, elves and reindeer, and has spread to cities all over the world. Check out the Santacon blog or twitter feed (@SFSanta) for more information leading up the event. Bring your best "ho ho ho" and let the Santarchy begin! Date: Saturday 12/13, Time: TBA, Place: TBA, Cover: no cover, link More Info. (EB)

From different cultures, but from the same city, Ozomatli have become a relative mouthpiece for reflecting the diverse nature of LA, and are a welcome reminder of the beauty and inspiration that comes from cross-cultural collaborations. Bound together through LA's grassroots political scene, thirteen years together and four albums later, Ozomatli tour as official Cultural Ambassadors of U.S. State Department and use the universal language of music to promote peace on a global scale. With their mingling of African, Latino, Asian and Middle Eastern sounds, powerful political messages and ability to excite any audience, this group is a definite MUST SEE with four nights on at the Fillmore. Date: Thur 12/11–Sun 12/14, Time: 7pm, Place: The Fillmore, Cover: $26.50, linkMore Info. (JO)
