SF Halloween Festival
Halloween in the Castro is still on hiatus, but the party hasn’t stopped in San Francisco. This festival extravaganza will fill the void with loads of family fun that’s not just for kids. The event includes dozens of performers and bands (full lineup here), a pie eating contest, a haunted house, a costume contest, and drag queen contest, art cars, arts & crafts, an eco-village with Earth-friendly products, a kids play-zone, and much more. Day Of The Dead Procession
Every fall, the souls of the departed come back to the visit the living and we honor them with altars, remembrance and celebration. On El Dia de los Muertos, the San Francisco community gathers in the Mission District for the annual Day of the Dead procession to Garfield Park and the Festival of Altars. The procession begins at 7pm at the corner of 24th St. & Bryant and ends at the park, where five local artists have built a large-scale altar installation. Bring flowers, pictures, or any small objects that reminds you of lost loved ones to add to the community altar. Strawberry & Bacon
If you are looking for something alternative and inexpensive to do Halloween weekend, then this is where to head! The Strawberry and Bacon Festival is a yearly event showcasing collaborative works by local artists and musicians check out the full lineup of artistic talent here.
