“Be Yourself Change the World
If that concept isn't’t fucking genius! It’s also the theme for the 32nd annual gay pride celebration in San Francisco. There are many ignorant stereotypes about the LGBT community. But when it comes to the one about the queer scene having the best music, well it’s hard to dispute. This weekend’s celebration features ten amazing stages of performances including speakers, drag shows, live bands, and of course DJs! Some highlights include David Harness, Pete Avila, Anita Lofton, Ruben Mancias, DJ Dragn’fly and Miss Honey Dijon. That’s just from the Fag Fridays stage! The main stage features that super diva from Soft Cell, Marc Almond of “Tainted Love” fame [Site]. Continue rocking new wave style with Dead or Alive singing “Spin me Round” [Site]. Then make sure to dance your way over to the Tantra trance stage, the Latin stage and so many more. For a complete lineup check out [Site] Event: Gay Pride Celebration, Date: Saturday 6/29, Sunday 6/30, Time: noon-7pm, Place: Civic Center, Admission: free, More Info

The best DJs stay at home says the ancient proverb. Not anymore. Bring your records down to the open decks at Fuse and stop pissing off your roommates while they try to watch Simpson’s re-runs. The Coldsweat decks have been graced by both bedroom, and experienced DJ's alike. Do it for practice, do it for love, do it for a response other than the toilet flushing down the hall. With all this to look forward to, it would be MUY MAL--(for those who cut too many Spanish classes, that means WHACK) to miss out. Big Thanks to Leavy for translation skills.

Event: Juke Joint

Music: electrofunk, soul, jazz, punk+
Cover: Free
If I could take Juke Joint and make it into a sit com starring characters like Ted Shred, Nancy Naughty, Uncle Abe, Monte Carlo, Vin Sol and Tommy Guererro and Toph One, I bet it would be a hit on the WB. I’m thinking like a mix between Happy Days and Welcome Back Kotter. Then if I separately sold the soundtrack of the show like they try to do with Dawson’s Creek, I could make millions. Juke Joint ranges from electro to R&B, punk, new wave and of course, hillbilly funk.
