Scion Battleground
This Saturday, the Fort Mason Festival Pavilion will be transformed into an action packed Mixed Martial Arts battleground where top fighters from around the world will duke it out for the glory. MMA (aka Ultimate Fighting) is a relatively new full-contact sport, but its growing popularity now rivals boxing and professional wrestling. The US Army started utilizing mixed martial arts training because of its advantages and now it's on its way to becoming an Olympic sport. The Battleground event will feature some of the world's most talented fighters, dance performances by B-Boy Machine and the Renegade Dance Crew, and DJs Apollo, Big Von and Eric Sharp. It doesn't get any more "ultimate" than this! Date: Saturday, 8/2, Time: 5pm-1:30am, Place: Fort Mason Festival Pavilion, Cover: $35-70, More Info (EB)

Stern Grove
The always-amazing (and always free) Stern Grove Festival continues to open SF's ears with the most promising musical performers from around the world. This week's artists are Bajofondo and Si*Sé, two genre-bending groups who bridge the gaps between Latin and electronic music. The Bajofondo music collective mixes dramatic Tango music with driving beats from trance to dnb, exploring the limits of both genres to create great new dance music. Si*Sé mixes minimal trip-hop beats with smooth, soulful vocals and Latin rhythms. Both groups are internationally acclaimed, and both will get your blood pumping... so show up early this week and claim your spot in Stern Grove's limited seating area! Date: Sun 8/3, Time: 2pm (arrive early to get in line), Place: Stern Grove, 19th Ave & Sloat Blvd., Cover: no cover, More Info (JH)

Chillin'
Chillin' is back! This festival of style, beats & art is always a great place to refresh your personal collection of cooler-than-thou items. Over 50 designers will be on site with their hautest couture, while DJs keep the party flowing and Ian Ross creates live paintings. Plus, bring a shirt or a pair of booty shorts, and help yourself to free screen printing. Chillin's creator was just featured in Legend Mag as one of SF's coolest event promoters. Come find out what the fuss is all about! Date: Sat 8/2, Time: 8pm-2am, Place: 111 Minna Gallery, Cover: $6, More Info (JH)

TransportedSF Russian River
All aboard the party bus! This week's adventure takes us to the beautiful Russian River, where you can frolic in the sun-dappled currents while the beats flow on. Transported's bringing the sound system and taking you to a great swimming/sunbathing spot on the river; you bring food & drinks to share, your bathing suit, and a big summery smile. Expect to make some new friends and get a wee bit of sun on your shoulders: this day trip is strictly for those who know how to have fun. Date: Sun 8/3, Time: 12:30pm-7:30pm (be on time or the bus will leave!), Place: meet at Papa Toby's, 3248 22nd St, Cover: $20, More Info (JH)
