SF Pride 2008
No city blurs gender/sexuality lines like San Francisco. As the most tolerant city in the nation, the "Gay Mecca" of America makes it easier to be proud of who you are (and to be hit on by a tranny). The Pride Parade started in 1970 as a "Gay-in" to commemorate the Stonewall Rebellion of New York's Greenwich Village, and has grown into one of the world's largest and most well known LGBT pride celebrations. With California's gay marriage legalization, 2008 is becoming a big homo-victory year. We're here, we're queer... and gay is here to stay! Date: Saturday 6/28 & Sunday 6/29, Time: Sat. 12-6pm, Sun. 10:30am, Place: Sat. @ Civic Center, Sun. parade along Market St., Cover: no cover, More Info (EB)

Best of the Bay Area Party
San Francisco magazine's eighth annual Best of the Bay Area Party will have more than 55 restaurants, free-flowing bars, hot dancing, and sweet beats to toast the best of 2008. Beatboxer/songwriter Kid Beyond, Scissors for Lefty, Loop!Station, DJL!, DJ Von, iQ!, Butta B, and supperclub resident Michael Anthony will provide the best of the best in music, so you can dance the night away with SF's favorite eats, drinks, and treats. Join over 2,000 partygoers to celebrate the very best place to live, work, and play. Get your tickets early, because the event sold out last year! Date: Thursday 6/26, Time: VIP 6-11pm, main event 7-11pm, Place: Concourse Exhibition Center, Cover: advance $100 (VIP $175), door $125 (VIP $200), More Info (EB)
Mortified SF
If you like Found Magazine and This American Life, you'll probably find meaning in Mortified. This live show is a comic excavation of the strange and extraordinary things we created as kids. Witness adults sharing their own adolescent journals, letters, poems, lyrics, home movies, stories and more. Where else can you hear grown men and women confronting their past with firsthand tales of their first kiss, first puff, worst prom, fights with mom, life at bible camp, worst hand job, best mall job, and reasons they deserved to marry Jon Bon Jovi. Date: Friday 6/27, Time: 8pm, Place: The Makeout Room, Cover: $12 adv, $15 door, More Info (WF)
US Air Guitar Championships
It's back! One of the hardest-rocking (and silliest) events of the year, the Air Guitar Championships, kicked off the preliminary rounds just a few short weeks ago in New York City. After touring these great States, the judges are ready to see SF rawk. Are YOU ready? On the program: bad haircuts, absurd stage moves, and the ever-present invisible guitar. Contestants are judged on technical merit, stage presence, and overall "airness". Come support this dubious art form and the geniuses who've made it an international phenomenon. Date: Wed 6/25, Time: 8pm, Place: The Independent, Cover: $18, More Info (JH)
