El Otro Lado
Being
the light in a child's life is what Project Luz wants -
Luz even means light! Project Luz empowers underprivileged kids through
art, encouraging creativity, a healthy self esteem, honesty and respect
for others. This evening, El Otro Lado: A Portrait from the Other Side,
depicts the results from this group's second endeavor: sending
8 US and UK photojournalists to Ejido Hermosillo, Mexico to provide
children with a 10 day workshop in photography/journalism basics. Nine
kids, ranging from ages 9-14, learned the ins and outs of photojournalism
and gave this city a voice, one that'll be shown in a documentary
portrait also created during this time. Adding the soundtrack is Jeremy
Sole's Musaics, dropping dub mixed with Brazilian/Latin funk while
Lulacruz fuses South American flavor with a female's voice and Manicato
brings the salsa, cumbia, reggae and rock music. Date:

The name Prefuse 73 comes from Herren's devotion to pre-fusion
jazz circa 1973, which was an era filled with free-form experimentation.

with abstract instrumentation which ventures away from the standard
