Tease-O-Rama
America’s
top burlesque showcase and convention, Tease-O-Rama, comes shimmying through town this week and
with four nights of scintillating shows, it’s sure to be a wild time. Over
200 performers from around the world will convene to tantalize and titillate
the wide-eyed and appreciative viewers of this (semi) ancient art. Start
Thursday night with the Meet ‘N’ Mingle dance party, and make sure to return
Friday and Saturday for sexy showcases featuring seductive sirens like Murasaki Babydoll, Kitty Kitty Bang Bang, and Miz Ginger Snapz (to name just a few). Want

Entheocentric Salon
Alex Gray's Chapel of Sacred Mirrors is bringing the Entheocentric Salon to San Francisco for its first West Coast appearance. This monthly event has been going on for almost two years in New York and is now coming to Temple for a night of live painting, dance performance, visuals, and great music in a very special club environment that features ancient statues and a temple built with eco-conscious technology. The impressive line-up of bands and DJs, including Paul Hemming, BLVD, Eskmo, Dov, Pedro, and more, will be playing live electronica, house, electro, dub step, glitch, lounge, and electro-progressive in three separate rooms. The event was inspired by 17th century French art salons and aims to nurture our minds and creativity while giving a very unique club experience. A visionary lecture by Alex and Allyson Gray will commence at 8pm, but admission is limited to 150 people so buy your tickets before they sell out. Though born and raised in a German fishing port, Ulrich Schnauss’ deep love for music eventually drove him to the bright

label CCO. These early tracks, which ranged from ambient to dnb via electronica,
eventually became his first CD, and he has been pumping out excellent jams (see: A Strangely Isolated Place) ever

Chicago producer and Siteholder Recordings impresario Billy Dalessandro has released killer tech house on Harthouse Recordings and will explore the Motor City funk with a Windy City bump. The formation of Crystal Castles was purely accidental. First, vocalist Alice mistakenly had her microphone recording while she was practicing her singing. Then, multi-instrumentalist Ethan Fawn added Atari-inspired gameboy glitches just for fun. They named the track "Alice Practice," put it on MySpace, and were soon contacted by record companies. Rapid success and a worldwide fanbase followed, making Crystal Castles hotter than ever. Thank god for accidents. (EB) |
