Entheocentric Salon
Alex Gray's Chapel of Sacred Mirrors is bringing the Entheocentric Salon to San Francisco for its first West Coast appearance. The event was inspired by 17th century French art salons and aims to nurture our minds and creativity while giving a very unique club experience. A visionary lecture by Alex and Allyson Gray will commence at 8pm, but admission is limited to 150 people so buy your tickets before they sell out. Though born and raised in a German fishing port, Ulrich Schnauss’ deep love for music eventually drove him to the bright lights and pumping venues of Berlin. Though he was already quite prolific, Berlin jumpstarted Ulrich’s anonymous CD mailings to electronica label CCO. These early tracks, which ranged from ambient to dnb via electronica, eventually became his first CD, and he has been pumping out excellent jams (see: A Strangely Isolated Place) ever since. (EK)

Music: techno, minimal
Cover: no cover b4 11pm, $15 after
If ever there was an all-time favorite [KONTROL] guest, Dan Bell would hold that honor. It's not surprising, as he helped define "minimal techno" with his early Richie Hawtin collaborations, Accelerate label, and mind-blowing track "Losing Control," which still kills dance floors. Chicago producer and Siteholder Recordings impresario Billy Dalessandro has released killer tech house on Harthouse Recordings and will explore the Motor City funk with a Windy City bump. Find out why these guys continue to be perennial techno favorites. (JV8)

The formation of Crystal Castles was purely accidental. First, vocalist Alice mistakenly had her microphone recording while she was practicing her singing. Then, multi-instrumentalist Ethan Fawn added Atari-inspired gameboy glitches just for fun. They named the track "Alice Practice," put it on MySpace, and were soon contacted by record companies. Rapid success and a worldwide fanbase followed, making Crystal Castles hotter than ever. Thank god for accidents. (EB)

With his multi-tasking lifestyle, Britt rarely seems to sleep, which appears to work well with his multi-faceted sound: deep house, hip-hop, broken beat, nu-jazz, funk, and afro-tech. Tonight they'll be honoring this balance, and the birthdays of Bryan James, David Skye and Kelley B, by making it free for Libras. Throw in the Scorpio sting of techno, trickster Qzen, and you've got one crazy techhouse journey. (JV8)

Event: Tim "Love" Lee
Venue: Mighty
DJs: Tim "Love" Lee, Makossa & Megablast
Music: downtempo, breakbeat
Cover: $10 b4 midnight
Tim "Love" Lee started DJing in England during the '90s and has since become one of the world's most talented electronic musicians, producers, and party-throwers. Instead of waiting for record companies to come calling, he took matters into his own hands and created a record label, Peace Feast, in 1994.  He now owns two more record labels: Tummy Touch and Boy Scout Recordings. He works hard, plays hard, and his parties are not to be missed. (EB)

It's the 5th annual Decompression Recompression and you'll want to make it memorable by catching some of Syd Gris' dangerous track combinations. His fingers seem to move in two directions - either to progressive house, breaks and trance or towards tech funk breaks and house. Though, he's constantly seen in the clubs next to Tiesto or Van Burren, he still loves being underground with the Bassbin Twins or Bassnector. Come to rock out - hard. (KS)
