Show Your Colors
As Burning Man nears, excitement is boiling over within seasoned and virgin burners alike. To keep that excitement up, Mighty Breaks is hosting a field day/pep rally (hello high school on acid!) that brings together your favorite Burning Man crews, each with their own color and DJ. The event will become a musical battle royale as the crews challenge each other to "walk offs," arm wrestling, dancing competitions and, of course, drinking games. But know this: there are no sanctioned events, so anything is fair game. And the prize? Bragging rights – extended all the way through Burning Man of this year. That, plus a DJ roster that includes Murphstar, 8ball, Shissla, Mopo & friends, Syd Gris, Zach Moore, and Jive, is a whole hell of a lot of reasons to come and show your true colors as well. Date: Friday 7/20, Time: 10pm-?, Place: Mighty, Cover: $10 presale, linkMore Info. (CQ, EK)

Summerotica
Join Anon Salon in their surrender to Summerotica this Friday, where the summer heat continues well into the night and the beats make you feel oh so right. Glory Halleluyas for the evening include Dex Stakker of Opulent Temple, Get Freaky's one and only an-ten-nae, Tracy, and Pom, so get ready for a wild mix of everything from dirty breaks to electro and rock 'n' roll. A fashion show and boutique sale is included among the night's highlights, as they star Invisible Hero Clothing, and a burlesque show by Solid Golddiggers always draws a crowd of enamored onlookers. With a Sparkle Zone, Muy Gooey Truffles, an AirBrush Liquid Skin Zone, and so much more, you are a fool to miss out on this erotic summer's night. Date: Friday 7/20, Time: 10pm - late, Place: Anon Gallery, 285 9th St @ Folsom, Cover: suggested donations $10 b4 10:30pm, $15 hissing w/ summer, $20 more or less oblivious, linkMore Info (DKD)

Dusty Dreams
On a mission to connect burners in need with burner-made products and services, the organizers of this event have added a fun, fashionable, and frisky dimension to pre-playa prep. There's an eclectic bunch of burner-preneurs participating that are peddling all the necessities- from the disco raver lasers and LED sunglasses of Michael's Light Toys to the fur boas and furkinis (that is bikinis made out of you guessed it) by Wild on the Inside. Organic Armor will be flaunting their crafted horns, circlets, and jewelry, and Fairy Wings & Things will have fairy wings and wands for you to drool over. There will be an outrageous fashion show and several musical performances, including chill downtempo and ambient beats by Josh Brill and Eastern-influenced songs by the multi-talented lyricist Fontain's M.U.S.E. Don't overlook the pre-playa fun to be had at this great new event. Date: Sunday 7/22, Time: 4pm, Place: Mighty, 119 Utah Street, Cover: no cover, linkMore Info (DKD)

Tour de Fat
The name is fairly suggestive, sure, but the Tour de Fat is in reality a celebration of bikes, beer, and insanely silly costumes (three things San Francisco rides, drinks, and wears a lot). So bust out your bicycle, fluff up that pink wig, and get thirsty, because come Saturday, Speedway Meadow is going to have a whole lot of crazy fueled by a great many brews. The New Belgium Beer Company, makers of the Tour's inspiration, Fat Tire Beer, have created a parade-bike rodeo-circus hybrid where "you can expect fire-jumping bike acts, cycling games, cruiser bike parade, live music, tasty eats and great beer" (natch). What's more, Handsome Little Devils, The Asylum Street Spankers, Circus Contraption, The Sprockettes, and Lord Loves a Working Man will be on hand to provide excellent musical accompaniment to whatever shenanigans you get into. Date: Saturday 7/21. Time: 10am-5pm, Place: Speedway Meadow, Golden Gate Park, Cover: no cover, linkMore Info. (EK)
