Capsule Design Festival
Join Capsule at the new Hayes Valley Park where 140 clothing and accessory designers, lifestyle product designers, and graphic artists will be showcased alongside live music and the fabulous restaurants, boutiques, and art galleries that already pin Hayes Valley to the map as a city hotspot. Fresh and innovative design is only the beginning of what you'll discover-- from the kiln-formed glass tableware of Mediums to Masses, to the playful clothing and iron-ons of Jill Killjoy, to the funky, recycled fabric-made finery of designers Rebe and Orange Slice, respectively, "eye candy" hardly does justice to the modern treasures you'll take in here. Why? Because you'll be overly-inspired to cart your favorite finds home with you. There's no way around it. Date: Sunday 5/27, Time: 11am-6pm, Place: Hayes Valley Park, Octavia Street between Fell and Hayes, Cover: no cover, linkMore Info (DKD)

Carnaval San Francisco
Dust off your spangled bra, feathered boots, and bedazzled thong, it’s time for Carnaval San Francisco! What’s that? You’ve lost your bedazzled thong collection? Thong-ed or not, everyone should head to Harrison Street this weekend for Love Happens 2007 (this year’s theme). If you’ve never experienced the delightful hedonism of Carnaval, San Franciscan or otherwise, this is a must-see: the frenzied dancing, gorgeous people (not just anyone can pull off feathered boots), and massive, reveling crowds create a jubilant atmosphere that is distinct to the festival. And this city mounts an impressive offering - Carnaval San Francisco runs two days and offers music and dance acts on seven stages, a huge parade with 80 participating groups, and vendors selling traditional food and crafts along with, of course, lots of people in aforementioned spangles. Date: Saturday 5/26 - Sunday 5/27, Time: 10am-6pm, Place: Harrison Street from 16th to 23rd, Cover: no cover, linkMore Info. (EK)
