He was selected to mix the debut album of Global Underground's Nu Breed series, and he's been calssified as everything from hard breaks to dark trance, but always elementally driving and energetic. At their inception in the late nineties, the New Deal was just that. Originally formed as an acid jazz band, the Canadian group quickly incorporated electronic elements and created a new sound at the intersection of jazz and electronica, a livetronica genre they would call live progressive breakbeat house. Though not so literally "new" these days, the New Deal is certainly still as talented, innovative, and skilled in synthesizing the best of both the jam band and electronica worlds. (EK) |
