SFJAZZ
Spring Season
The San
Francisco Jazz Festival has garnered both praise and controversy
for close to a quarter century by combining seemingly disparate
visions: an appreciation for jazz legends and a taste for the
innovative. For a long time that vision could only be seen (and
heard) four weeks a year - it wasn't until 2000 that SFJAZZ,
the nonprofit organization that presents the festival, expanded
their scope and became a year-round source for world-class live
jazz. Next week marks the beginning of the 8th Annual SF JAZZ
Spring Season, and it looks like the concerts are hotter than
ever, as the opening event is already sold out. Act fast, though,
and you may catch Etta
James, who comes into town Saturday to show everyone just
why they know her name. Date: Thurs. 3/8 - Sat.
