incomparable ability to put many different styles under one roof,

you're a hipster, burner, b-boy, or raver; whether you crowd up
close to the decks, seek out maximum dancing space, or just hang
back and take it all in, you'll find no better night to show your
true colors. Once again, the skill behind the decks is unbelievable,
as DJDreamteamers Bassnectar (Lorin), Taj,
David Harness, Miguel Migs,

stage, while special guests Aaron Jae, Atimatik,

SF
Indiefest
SF Indiefest,
founded in 1998 to provide great independent films with venues
in our city, is steadily growing in popularity to become, well...
huge. Over the next two weeks, you can catch over 100 underground
films at theaters in SF and Berkeley. From insightful art films
to straight-up horror flicks, all the films exhibited remind us
that it doesn't take a huge budget to tell a story—in fact, don't
be surprised if you like these movies more than the latest blockbuster.
Check out Darkbeat,
an exploration of electro music around the world; Rolling,
which examines MDMA's effects and culture; and Rock
N Tokyo, stories from Japan's underground rock scene.
Then stick around for multiple spinoff parties and a daily happy
hour at the Kilowatt! Date: Thu 2/8 to Tue 2/20, Cover:
$10 for films, $5 for parties, multi-film passes $45-$195, More

Shadow
Circus Vaudeville Theatre
The Shadow Circus Creature Theatre is one of SF's favorite puppetry
troupes, and once you've witnessed one of their outrageous variety
shows, you'll understanding why. The performance artists entertain
their audience with an utterly fantastical combination of folklore,
mythology, and pop culture parodies. Life-sized foam and
latex creatures are elements of the hilariously mayhemous
show, yet the world the performers portray is amazingly similar
to our own. A night out spent with Uni & Her Ukelele,
Banana Peel, and Coconut Cream, not only sounds tasty, but a great
way to spin your weekend in a lighthearted, though very underground,
direction. Date: Saturday 2/10, Time:
9pm, Place: Kimo's, 1351 Polk Street, Cover:

bartender Misty lost her rented home, most of her belongings, and
even her beloved cat last week, when her place went up in flames.
She escaped safely, thank goodness, but as she has no insurance
to cover her huge loss, now is our time to show her some love, support,
and all the scrilla we can scrounge up. All the donations made at
the door and bar will be matched by good ol' Mighty, so stuff your
pockets full of benjis, hop down to Mighty, then bounce around to
funky and deep house beats and breaks provided by some of our top-notch
local DJs. (DKD) |
