You now have no excuse for why you ended up at some cracked-out Kerioki bar on a Wednesday. Nitevibe will at least tell you where those cracked out kerioki bars are that feature your favorite DJs! Look for your Buzz every Monday. Plus in the coming weeks, we'll also be introducing some format changes and a new ticket engine - so you can have your passes waiting at the door, instead of you waiting in those long-ass line. And Yes we'll be giving away more free passes to SF's hottest events.

"Sampling" Have you heard about this exhibit at MOMA?
Christian Marclay examines music as a theme by relating it visually to found objects and video. He also constructs musical pieces out of sampled sounds. In "Video Quartet," a four channel video projector synchronizes found video clips of people playing instruments into a coherent musical piece. Show runs April 11th - July 28th. In a past exhibit, entitled "Sounds of Christmas" Marclay assembled a massive collection of Christmas carol LPs inviting DJs to mix them as a performance in the context of the museum.

Red Five's Sumo has already reached epic proportions for a SF hip-hop party. DJs frequently include Vin Roc, Apollo and Shortkut. The vibe is good, the music is excellent, the girl-boy ratio is balanced. The dancefloor is so crowded that it feels like one gigantic organism all movin' to the beat-- hands in the air like one of those slow motion party scenes in a hip-hop video.

The Redwood room is not just for yuppies anymore. It's been upgraded to electronic music lovers with cars. DJ Consuelo (who has opened up for Thievery Corp. and will be opening up for Groove Armada this Thursday) holds it down for a smooth and sexy crowd of well dressed wine sippers (or at least some beer drinkers who hope to feel smooth and sexy after hearing Consuelo's set.)

What's black and white and red all over? Not sure either but this party is pretty fucking cool. A combination of local heroes, fuck ups from New Jersey, famous London producers, magazine editors, hip-hop promoters and bauhaus graffiti writers gather together in honor of some damn good downtempo, breaks and hip-hop creating the perfect soundtrack for wine drinking.

This art gallery/ bar plays trance at 6pm for creative directors and other peeps who like to get a little raving in before dinner. "I see you baby" shakin' that free ticket you got through Nitevibe. Everyone's ass will be all a-shake at Groove Armada this Thursday. GA (in case you live on Jupiter or in Ohio) is a London based duo of jazz flavored spliff friendly electronic music producers who have crossed over to the charts in Europe and even opened up for Elton John.

Hmmm... electro and 2-step, can't wait to see how Chris pulls this one off. Loose Joints has morphed itself into a funky little dilemma called Dirty. Mark of Future Primitive Sound and Chris of Loose Joints don't care how sweaty you get, the beats are always going to be dirtier than you are.

Switzerland's Minus 8 is a one-man band who merges drum'n'bass-style breakbeat percussion, down-tempo, Latin rhythm with a jazz approach to arrangement, and duct tapes it all together with his funk background as a bass player. Robert Jan Meyer's started out DJing on tour with many of the U.K.'s finest: Grooverider, Bad Company, Goldie, and Krust, to name a few. DJ Cam was the first to release Minus 8 on his Paris-based Inflammable label. Now Minus 8 is on the ever popular nu-jazz label, Compost.

Do not expect to hear any happy go-lucky-Beach-Boy-house-tracks at this gig.You heard that stuff last night anyway, tonight sip on sangria and get a dose of creative funky intellectual beats. This tradition at the top started as an 80's night by some of my favorite Sf DJ's IZ, Mark E. Quark and Solar. It's mostly house now with some deep disco and electro thrown in for the hell of it. Out of town talent frequently stop by including DJ Diz,Mike Clark from Detroit, the Lawnchair Generals. The DJs usually have fun and put a little humor in the mix which seems to be appreciated by a packed local crowd of after boat-party victims, off duty bartenders, lower Haight Djs and their roommates. It really feels like a family on Sunday, in fact maybe I should stop writing about this one. Yeah, I was joking. There's no party here on Sunday...
