It's only been one year since de Young re-opened in Golden Gate Park, yet the fine arts museum has received over 1.6 million visitors. Come see why the spot is so special this weekend, while the anniversary is being celebrated and there's many an interesting exhibition and event. Featured performances include spoken word by Marc Pinate and several diverse musicians including the Salvador Santana Band, the Stairwell Sisters, The Marcus Shelby Jazz Trio, and Vinyl Funk. Sexy with a smile, Lucky Break Burlesque looks to be one of the best collections of vampy entertainment all year. Taking over 12 Galaxies will be a variety of stunning acts, with some of the highlights being the Black and Blue Burlesque and the ElectriKat Express, who are described as "high-energy super-femme dance in the neo-classic tease format." In 2003, the world was introduced to a hip-hop artist named Chingy. Debuting on the Disturbing tha Peace label with his catchy single, "Right Thurr," Chingy let everyone know what he's all about. He followed up with "Holidae In," a song featuring heavy hitters Ludacris and Snoop Dog, which solidified his presence in rap and hip-hop. When they made their debut in 1990, A Tribe Called Quest was a revolution in hip-hop. Eschewing the commercialized and over-hyped gangsta style, they focused on social issues and more introspective themes. They immediately found a wide following and their influence continues to this day. Milk is known for its great hip-hop nights, and this special tribute night will feature a special hour-long tribue to ATCQ and the rest of the Native Tongues family. (SG)

When Sasha's voice met Robot's (yes, Robot's) beats in Berlin in 2002, it didn't take long for the party to get started. With the addition of Oren's bass, guitar, and sound engineering skills, Jahcoozi was born, and now it comes to you in top, though very abstract, form. These distorted electronic beats mixed with hip-hop and dancehall, will keep the 1015 dancefloor hot, and the illuminated water wall and Argon laser can't hurt. (DKD)

These musicians have mastered the essence of house music without the tricks of the studio, they feel the crowd, environment, and the spirit of the dancefloor and play accordingly.
