Summer Music Conference
San Francisco is the city with the most DJs per capita in the world, and some of this city's best and brightest decided it's high time the music world came and saw what we are all about. Thus, the first ever San Francisco Music Conference was born, a chance for the world's best to come here and enjoy everything we have to offer. The potential for this event is huge! If you are an up and coming artist, a seasoned pro, or just love good music, there will be plenty to see and hear, and we here at Nitevibe are proud to provide the Official SMC Event Guide. Starting now and growing each day as the event nears, you'll find everything you're looking for here on the offiical outlet for promoter and party info. There are also plenty of opportunities to volunteer and get involved so we encourage you to also check out the SMC Main Site. The success of this event could spell huge things for the music scene in San Francisco, just as the WMC has done for Miami. So check out The List early and often as it grows in the months to come. The Temple Builder
The Temple Builder, a documentary on David Best, one of the most highly revered artists to emerge from Burning Man, celebrates the incredible impact his work has had on the community. The film explores the myths surrounding Best and the special place he holds in the Burning Man counter culture. After the film screening, the soiree will begin and BRC DJs and performers will entertain late into the night. DJ Goldilox will be there wreckin’ the decks in her signature crack house style, and Smoove, Laird, M3, and many more will keep the night thumpin’ and bumpin’ with everything from funky breaks and house to downtempo. Soundspace: Sonology
Experimental soundscapes are the order of the day as The Lab brings in a unique collaboration. They've installed a special surround sound environment which will eb used by Night Night and GroundChuck, combining their crosscutting talents in a laptop symphony covering six channels of sound while Tim Gallaher creates surround audio/visual filmsongs. In addition to this feast for the senses, Night Night will be taking Don Seaver's award-winning theatrical scores, including Medea and The Crucible, and reinterpreting them through his unique musical touch in this special environment. Their debut album On the One has made waves, as their music has a vintage, analog feel that is usually limited to live bands. With several other bands and 11 DJs playing across three rooms, you had better rest up before this one. Last month's sold out grand opening Hard Eight event at Crash was a huge success, so if you missed it here's your chance to see what the hype around SF's newest ultra lounge is all about. The one and only Tommy Lee is back in the house along with the incomparable DJ Aero. Local faves Mei-Lwun, Mick and more will also be laying down the beats, while a speical Sin City Fashion Show and the Surreal Devil Girls will provide a massive dose of eye candy as well. DJ Hope will be broadcasting live on Energy 92.7 from 10-12, so get there early to get interviewed for the radio. (SG)
