Harmony
Festival
Santa Rosa's Harmony
Festival turns 28 this year, and it promises
to be just as amazing as ever. True to tradition,
there'll be three days and nights of live music,
art, and ecologically-themed activities -- but
as a first this year, onsite camping is available
throughout the event! The lineup
is stellar, featuring breaks and other electronica
by Sound Tribe Sector 9, Uberzone, and Freq
Nasty among others, rock by Bob Weir & Ratdog,
Cake, Michael Franti & Spearhead, and Ozomatli,
hip-hop by Lyrics Born and Canibus, and
world music. Bring your dancing shoes: you'll
need them for Techno-Tribal,
Saturday's no-holds-barred all-night party featuring
fire dancers, aerialists, and circus performers!

Haight
Street Fair
It's that time of the year again - time for
another San Francisco institution, the Haight
Street Fair. Started in the '70s, the area has
always had a rich history, and keeping that
spirit alive is what this celebration is about.
With a plethora of arts, crafts, and food booths,
it's a great way to spend your Sunday. To keep
the party vibe going there will be stages at
either end of the festival, providing a steady
stream of diverse bands and DJs. Groundscore
is hosting the Masonic Stage where you can catch
a set by Sunset's DJ Solar, some hectic d'n'b
by Genome, and Felix the Dog's dirty breaks.
This is not to be missed, as the music and fun
go all day long. Date: Sun
6/11, Time: 11am - 5:30 pm,
Place: Haight Street between
Stanyan and Masonic, Cover:

No
more than three producers can test DJ Premier's status as the most
important trackmaster of the '90s. Aggressive and raw, a Premier
track was an instantly recognizable soundclash of battling loops
and heavy scratching. Besides helming tracks for Gang Starr, Premier's
productions appeared on many important East Coast's records: Illmatic
(Nas), Ready to Die (Notorious B.I.G.), Reasonable Doubt (Jay-Z),
The Sun Rises in the East (Jeru the Damaja), and Black on Both Sides
(Mos Def). Premier returned in force with the new millennium with
shots that included Common, D.I.T.C., D'Angelo, Jadakiss, and Snoop
Dogg.
