Event: White Valentine
Venue: Glas Kat
DJ's: Hyde, Meet, Satori One, KAZ, Takeshi, NNY
Music: hip-hop, house
Cover: $5 (wear white+flyer), $7 without

Are those low-slung pants every girl owns, really the new cleavage as fashion sources say? Having a little ass crack show...let's refer to that style as "the sexy plumber" from now on. Anyway, the girl on this flyer is rockin' the sexy plumber and you can too as long as your pants are white. Everyone has to wear white at this party. I don't get it either... Valentine's day was last month. This party makes no sense, but at least you can be sure to hear all the house and disposable hip-hop you crave.

Event: Shake
Venue: Makeout Room
DJ's: Shortkut, Derrick D, J-Boogie, O-Dub, Jewels, DJ OM, pauleytek, King One
Music: hip-hop, breaks, funk, dancehall
Cover: TBA
This must be false advertising. How can all these crazy talented hip-hop DJs be in the same joint at the same time? Will the place not spontaneously morph into a hip-hop super universe of sound? Oh.

Event: Passenger
Venue: Skylark
DJ's: Residents Capital A, Paul Craven, Kazu,Takeshi
Cover: free
Passenger features music I really like. House with Brazilian and African flavors mixed in, jazzy vocals, drums and it's not all 4-4 the whole night. The crowd is mixed -- cannot easily place them, which I like. People are there for the music. Everyone dances but not in a bump-in-to-you-drunk-sort-of- way which is really different for a Thursday night Mission crowd.

You've been Buzzed by Jessica Perri

So What (continued)

1) Create and laminate your own WMC passes and hand them out at Ten15. Encourage people to wear them around their necks-- together you can start the first annual SFWMC! Who needs freakin' Miami?

2) Turn up the heat to 90 degrees in your home. Have your friends call you from their cell phones and hold up the phone during the best DJ sets in Miami. Put your home phone on the speaker option, then dance around your living room in your bathing suit. Invite friends to get the full-on raving affect!

3) Bring a kiddie pool and lawnchairs to the the Endup for T-Dance. Layout on the deck and pretend you're at a cool hotel.

4) Go to the tanning booth everyday while you're friends are gone, tell them you ended up going to Miami after all. Don't they remember taking that pill with you?

5) Take a trip to Tahoe, snowboard, eat and live healthy. Then you can laugh at everyone when they come back sunburned and hungover.

Everyone (continued)

QUESTION:
Why did you decide to stay in SF this week, and what will you be doing while most of the industry heads down to Miami?

"For one, I couldn't afford it. They raise the rates for hotels, drinks and other commodities by about 50% as well, so its even more expensive. I decided to check out a new conference this year called Mutek in Montreal, a four day festival of emerging electronic musicians. I'm also spinning at a super fun new Friday monthly at Hush Hush called Overtone, its a Latin and Brazilian house and breaks night that has the best dance crowd I've seen."
-TOMAS PALERMO (EDITOR OF XLR8R MAGAZINE)

"It's all about the Benjamins, baybee! I have decided to stay behind and steal the residencies of all of the DJ's who left. I'll also be here trying to salvage spring training for the Serotonin All-Stars Softball Team and playing records at Sunset's first party of the year this weekend.
-DJ MONTY LUKE (JUSTICE LEAGUE SOUNDSYSTEM)

"What industry? I will be sitting at home."
-KIT CLAYTON (SF TECHNO PRODUCER, ORTHLONG MUSORK LABEL)

"Where's Miami?"
-SUE CONSTABILE (VISUALS, ORTHLONG MUSORK LABEL)

"It was not a decision, it was a conscious choice. Miami is for Kooks
who somehow feel the need to validate themselves by claiming
allegiance to the "dance music community". What kind of crap is that?
Fuck all that "scene" shit and give me some goddamned MUSIC! If the
"industry" gathers anywhere, look for me to be the farthest away,
possible. I will be maintaining my hourly White Russian intake while
enjoying the relatively doofus-free environment in SF, for the
time-being." -TOPH ONE (REDWINE, DJ/PROMOTER for PEPPER)

"I'll be at Six enjoying Gianni on Friday and our
amazing new resident Lauris Lee"
-ANGEL CRUZ (OWNER OF CLUB SIX)
