Let's
cut right to the chase... #10 Kaskade, #9 Jondi
& Spesh, #8 Smoove, #7 Ellen Ferrato, #6 Jeno, #5
Laird, #4 M3, #3 Lorin #2 Mark Farina, and #1 Miguel
Migs! CONGRATULATIONS to the new Nitevibe DJDreamteam!
And thank you to all those who voted in record numbers
over the last month. We could feel your passion and
conviction coming through with every click. I want to
give props to the breaks community in particular for
wreaking some serious havoc on our routinely all-house
line-up. But that's what breaks are for right? – busting
through that old 4-4 groove. Newcomers to the Dreamteam
this year include Lorin, Laird, Smoove and Jondi &
Spesh. Holding ground in spots 1 & 2 for the third
year are Miguel & Mark, and of course Ms. Ferrato
is ever-present in the winners circle. Jeno is back
in the Dreamteam after a brief hiatus, while Kaskade
made a second consecutive win, as did M3 who climbed
the charts by an astounding 6 spots since his debut
last year! Thank you all for voting. It's obvious how
much you care about your DJs and nightlife community.
Stay tuned to Nitevibe for info on the upcoming DJDreamteam
party. With this diverse assortment of talent, it's
sure to be a blast!. (JP)

The
Nitevibe Elves
Just a quick note on our schedule for the next few weeks.
We elves here at Nitevibe have been diligently working
away through many nights to compile this special double
NYE issue just for you. We sit around the work table
singing house-music carols and whistling hip-hop jams
as we dutifully pound away at the issue. We compile
info, pass flyers down a special assembly line, paint
the issue and shine it up bright so you have a sparkling
new nightlife guide for the next two weeks. Then on
a very special Tuesday afternoon (today!) Santa delivers
the issue to the inbox of all the best boys and girls
in Clubland. Finally the Nitevibe elves can take a long
awaited break, sleeping until NYE. On that day we get
up to party for two full days and then recover for a
week after that. To make a long story short, the next
issue comes out JANUARY 11, 2005. Have a safe and happy
New Year! (JP)

30 KIT-KAT
- RIP When one is asked to write a eulogy for a true patriarch,
words can be hard to come by. Yes, it was the first party to establish
a weekly format in the city circa 1989, at a gay venue to boot.
Yes, it witnessed the birth of house music and crossed it over diligently
to everyone with determined might. And yes, after almost 16 years
of bringing smiles to everyone, most of all the Endup staff, it
is time to take a break. This is a time to reflect and appreciate
what this whole scene means to all of us. There has been many a
changing of the guard over the years, yet KitKat seemed to transcend
and endure above all. Who knows? Only the future can write the final
obituary for this true american classic. From where we stand, though,
only one thing is clear, we haven't heard a single fat lady sing
last call. (Marc Jellybear)

showing off as it is about partying, and 1015

For the first time in 5 years New Years Eve is on Friday, which means
that you get to keep on playing throughout the weekend. A handfull
of collectives vowed to keep the liver damage rolling with killer
live acts and a melting pot of 4-4, breaks, deep SF-style tech house,
chunky beats and other cleverly named subgenres. The whole night will
be recorded, so make sure to ask Santa for a belated present from
the artists. Housing this musical insanity for the industry pros and
local folk is the Red Eye Lounge, a limited capacity Mission DJ bar
with lots of character and characters. (JM) |

choosing the right party, at the right place, for the right price.

presented a free after-Thanksgiving party featuring hip-hop, funk
and soul to an absolutely packed Elbo Room crowd. Tonight, Vinnie
looks to do more of the same when he presents The After Party, featuring
the talents of bay area hip-hop veteran Kool DJ Rize along with Matthew
Africa and Vinnie himself. Celebrate the birth of a new year while
grooving to the sounds of hip-hop, funk, Afro-Latin and reggae...for

Most of us don't have to work on the day after Christmas. We get to
sit around watching bad television, eating cookies and playing with
our toys. That's more than I can say for the Bionic team, who will
be spreading holiday cheer on the most difficult day of the year.
Get your ass out of the house, bring the family and have a drink with
Josh and Solar. They'll be playing all your festive underground house

Christmas is over but New Years Eve is just around the corner – there’s
nothing left to do but call in sick the whole week, especially after
celebrating Jeno’s and Kollol’s birthdays. The party starts at 7pm
and could go way past midnight with eclectic dirty house treats from
famous underground local legends. Here's a tip: You could probably
trade inconspicuously wrapped gifts for a signed CD. (JM) |
