Lets give
thanks for the privilege of living in one of the
greatest cities with some of the finest DJ talent
in the universe. So get some family time in but
make sure you head out and show some appreciation
for our unique, unequaled, and incomparable music
scene. Among the many treats is a week-long visit
from fiercely independent NYC househead Frankie
Feliciano, who'll be showing off the roots of
house music at a variety of events. The
EndUp, with its near 24-hour availability, is
a place almost everyone has appreciated at one time
or another. This Wednesday they're hosting a 10-hour
marathon exploration of the concept of Grace with
unique visuals and more. If hip-hop is your scene,
get to Milk early on Wednesday for Dan the Automator's
special Thanksgiving set. If you love the holiday
concept of giving check out Mark
Farina's show at Ruby Skye. Show some love by
bringing a non-perishable food item or a new, unwrapped
toy to the door. All year round this town gives
us opportunities to be ourselves, have fun, and
dance our asses off. So when you're out there this
week, grooving to your favorite sound, say a little
thank you to the DJs, bouncers, coat-checkers, bartenders,
waiters, waitresses, your fellow partiers, and everyone
else that works hard to sustain this little slice
of heaven. (SG)

for the Ones You Love
I am very pleased to report that we have a
heavy breaks contingency in the running right
now. Big ups to all you breaks lovers for
making your voice heard in the community!
to view latest results of the top 30 DJs (results
are updated each Tuesday). If you have not
yet voted for your favorite DJs, what are
you waiting for?! This is a fantastic opportunity
to give your beloved DJs all the appreciation
they deserve. After all, don't they always
play the perfect track at just the right moment?
What about how they keep the groove going
just long enough for you to dance your way
over to that cute boy or girl? Did they ever
give you a great reason to ask someone out?
Buy some cool shoes? Take a roadtrip? Attend
a festival? Go to an epic afterparty? Have
a great conversation? Dance all your worries
away (at least for the night)? There's no
time like Thanksgiving week to give thanks
for the endless hours of extreme listening
pleasure you have experienced in 2004. This
competition is heating up and I can't wait
to see what happens over the holiday. Happy
Thanksgiving from Nitevibe! (JP) Vote

Glamour
at MOMA
Around the holidays, when the relatives are in town,
I always struggle to find an activity we can all
enjoy together. For some reason, taking my Mom and
little brother to Club 6 never seems like a good
idea. Since we've done that freezing-on-the-boat
Alcatraz thing, I usually fall back on the Museum
of Modern Art. It's a classy place just full of
excuses not to make small talk. Plus there's a yummy
cafe which alleviates the need to cook dinner for
everyone. And, when it's all said and done, the
family is so tired from walking around, they just
want to go home and rest, leaving me free to go
out dancing at night! It's really a win-win situation,
especially with the ultra-cool Glamour
exhibit running until January. You'll see it all
from Versace gowns to fancy cars (How did they get
the Jaguar up the stairs?), bling-bling jewelry
to beautifully crafted and ultra-gaudy chandeliers.
Fashion, furniture, architecture and industrial
design are all featured exploring the theme of how
affluence is perceived and the elusive concept of
Glamour. It's a theme that is fun and visually appealing
for everyone and, who knows, when your done staring
at all those material things, you may just appreciate
your family even more. Date: through

I explain that an event with legend Frankie
Feliciano, Nitevibe Dreamteamer David
Harness, and our precious, homegrown, Patrick
Wilson is not to be missed? Well, if you didn’t know,
you know it now! Frankie, coming in from NYC, has almost 20
years of work under his belt, always delivering sets that
keeps the crowd begging for more. David works us around town
on a weekly basis, clearly earning that “Dreamteamer” title.
And Patrick is quickly becoming one of the most sought after
DJs out there. So, with all that talent, what do you expect?
An event not to be missed? You've got it!. (KW)

grew to love house music and earned his wings under the tutelage
of one of the all-time house masters, Little Louie Vega. He's
since built a huge following and started his own label (Ricanstruction),
but he refuses to follow any direction but his own: "I think
that the less talented and creative people in the industry are
pushing house music, and music in general, to get to a more
futuristic area. With that, it becomes easier for their computers
to create music for them." (SG) |
