Folsom Street Fair

The world’s largest leather event is entering into its 20th year as an erotic free-for-all that attracts international leatherfolk with a variety of fetishes in hand. The Folsom Street Fair, as well as being a fundraiser for AIDS organizations, is a celebration of one of the Bay Area’s most enigmatic subcultures. Along the leather “miracle mile” will be spanking booths, humiliation booths, slaves and masters, leather vendors, and of course, dance stages worked by some of SF’s best DJs. Regardless what side of the bread you butter, bring a genuine appreciation for this event and get whacking, dancing, or whatever (or whoever) strikes your fancy. How much would you pay to smack an anonymous, naked, masked man on the ass? Come find out. Date: Sunday 9/26, Time: 11am - 6pm, Place: Folsom St. b/t 7th and 12th, Cover: donation. More Info (KW)

Future Forward Festival
It's about time SF showed its appreciation for the best of today's electronic music. Thanks to the Future Forward Festival, musicians armed with laptops can rejoice, knowing that there are like-minded souls in the world. This all day festival celebrates the achievements in electronic arts. Activities include software demonstrations, interactive laptop and DJ rooms, explorations into new technology and performances by local and pro acts. Some of the talent includes: Morr Music'sB. Fleischman and Christian Kleine's ear-opening sounds, the downtempo pioneering of the U.K.'s Bonobo, and a special 2-hour DJ set by ESL recording artists Thunderball. That said, it should be similar to indie music festivals such as Sonar in Spain and Mutek in Montreal, but without the expensive plane ticket or jet lag, for that matter. Check it out! Date: Sunday Sept 26, Time: 12pm-3am, Place: Mezzanine, Cover: $10/day/expo showcase, $20 evening concert, $25 all day pass, $45 VIP pass. More Info (JC)

A-list celebrities like Elizabeth Taylor and Magic Johnson are frequent guests here and the designers include Michael Kors, Tommy Hilfiger, Nautica and INC. From the teen runway show to the Celebrity Auction, this event is a must for any self-respecting fashionista. Date: Tuesday 9/21-Thursday 9/23, Time: varies, Place: Fort Mason, Cover: $60 - $150. Fun Raiser
Tonight's "Fun Raiser" party is to show support for a friend in need, promote greater AIDS awareness within the dance community and to have (for lack of a better word) FUN! The focus for Fun Raiser is Gehno, a fellow DJ and promoter who contracted HIV in 1999 and was recently diagnosed with AIDS. A fixture in the rave scene for the better part of a decade, his battle with the disease recently took a turn for the worse when his doctors diagnosed him with a rare form of vasculitis, making it difficult for him to stand for extended periods of time. By bringing in superb local DJ talent to provide the beats, including Toph One, Spivak and Bruce Wang, among others, it won't be too hard to show your support in the fight against this deadly disease while having yourself a good time! 5% of the proceeds will go to the fight against AIDS while the rest will help cut the high costs of Gehno's medical care. Date: Thursday 9/23, Time: 7pm-midnight, Place: Rickshaw Stop (155 Fell), Cover: $10 donation. More Info (JC)
