be spinning grooves all afternoon to satisfy the
ecstatic crowds as they make their rounds from stage
to stage. This will be an afternoon about having
fun in the sun, enjoying poetry slams, impromptu
double dutch competitions, yummy goodies, and celebrating
the pride of San Francisco’s Gay community. Date:

You
can not claim to be an expert in dance until you
have observed the diverse range displayed at the
annual San Francisco Ethnic Dance Festival. Dubbed
the "City's most popular tradition", the EDF wraps
up its three-week stay here with Dances of the Sky,
blending an array of styles and cultures which range
from the flute-playing and ribbon dancing of China
to the drumming and sacrificial dancing of Senegal
(minus the blood and death.) Mexico, Peru and Tahiti
will also be among the nations represented by the
over 300 dancers who have participated this year.
Also on hand is the world famous Argentinean tango
dancer Marcelo
Solis. If all that's not enough, I've got two
more words: hula dancing. Date:

NewsBreakz,
a publication so celebrated that a party is thrown
for each edition, re-emerges from the depths of
human lunacy this Friday, and will soon be stashed
in record shops and club bathroom stalls all over
town. The king of all local rag mags is alluring
in its honest and unrelenting portrayals of party-people
antics, and the Naughty Cotillion being thrown in
its honor promises a wonderfully trashy punk-rock
80's theme experience. The dirty prom party features the
breakbeat wizardry of Felix the Dog, Murphstar,
ViaJay,
and Aaron
Jae among others, plus a special tag-team set
by Smoove
and Donna
Matrix, the prodigies responsible for the mag's
existence. Punk rock formal attire is requested,
so punk-out or be punked, and get there early to
enjoy hot hors d'ouvres provided by Frjz Fries. Silver
Lucy fashion queens will be there handing out the

provide trapeze acts and fire-dancing, for your
visual enjoyment. Date Friday,
