The date for the Nitevibe
Dreamteam Party has been announced!
Mark February 18th on your calendar as the big night
when you get to see all of your favorite DJs perform
under one roof. "What roof might that be?," you
ask. It's a surprise but don't worry we will let
you know about the venue and all other pertinent
details in next week's issue. It's been awhile since
we announced the winners so let me remind you of
how fat of a party our Dreamteam Showcase will be:
Mark Farina, Miguel Migs, Ellen Ferrato, Dimitris
Mykonos, Julius Papp, Coleman & Sen Sei, Kaskade,
Frenchy le Freak, David Harness and M3! Is that
hot enough for ya? The Nitevibe Dreamteam event
is the only party where your votes decide the lineup.
Even if your favorite Dj did not make it this year,
trust us you'll have fun. Stay tuned for more info
coming your way soon! (JP)
SPE
Magazine Launch Party
SPE stands for Slightly Pointed East which is the
direction of all witty, hip, creative and fashionable
things right? You can decide this Thursday as this
new mini-mag celebrates issue #s 1-3. The book covers
all areas of pop and street culture from film &
music to fashion & art. If the writing is nearly
as cool as the graphic design I'd say we have a
winner on our hands. Check out the scene and hear
live jazz from the specialists at Bruno's jazz club,
then head upstairs in the Green Room for a downtempo
and hip-hop DJ session. Date: Thursday

Sublounge
Presents
Through mixing the mediums of artistic
expression, this Tuesday's event far transcends
the typical art show or tired weekly night down
at the local boozer. We adore Sublounge for their
magical mix of djs, dancing, and drinks, but their
showcase of visual artists Attaboy,
Dodd,
Chris
Fabbri, and Shawn
O., makes this an action-packed event you
don't want to miss. It's a great way to catch the
truly original, really contemporary works of these
artists on their way to the top, and with performances
by rock/triphop/indie spinner Justin
Walsh, his many guests, and the funky,
jazzy Esophaguys,
you'll cry mercy way before they kick you out at
midnight. Works by Fabbri, elected "best seller"
on PaintingsDirect.com, shouldn't be overlooked,
and you have to see Attaboy's Axtrx before her replications
appear in every hipster's household. Date:
Tues. 1/20 Time: 7pm 'till midnight
Place: Sublounge 628 20th/off 3rd

Roe v. Wade - March and Rally
It's been 31 years since the historic Roe v.
Wade Supreme Court decision legalized abortion.
In those 31 years, not a year has passed that some
court somewhere in the United States has not heard
a case either trying to further the scope of the
decision or to reverse the decision in some way.
No matter how you feel about it, it is one of the
most controversial and influential court decisions
of our time. On Thursday, advocates for reproductive
rights, will stage a rally and a march starting
at the Powell St. Bart Station and ending at the
Civic Center. This event is sponsored by the local
chapters of NOW, ACLU, Planned Parenthood, National
Women's Political Caucus, Law Students for Choice,
and Code Pink. So women, and men (whom I'm sure
will be in the minority but should have their voices
heard too) bring your signs and banners and get
ready for a good old-fashioned debate, as the counter-argument
groups will surely attend. If your interested in
volunteering email.
Date: 1/22, Time:
5pm @ Powell, or 6:30pm at Civic Center, Place:
From Powell and Market to Civic Center, Cover:
